Patriots Sign WR Corey Coleman

Coleman will replace Patterson as the resident would-be Percy Harvin next year.

I don't believe that is true. I'm pretty sure D.J. Foster told teams not to try to sign him from the NE Practice Squad in recent years because he didn't want to leave. That said, I think the Pats were actually paying Foster the equivalent of a 53-man roster minimum salary on their PS instead of a more PS-level salary. Even so, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the player has the right to choose his contract, even if it's a much smaller PS contract vs. a 53-man roster contract. Also, no reason the Pats couldn't choose to pay Coleman like he's on their 53 too if they wanted to achieve a similar result.

Incorrect. You are getting this confused with the waiver wire claim.

No, not only can his current team put him on the roster, but the player can choose to stay on the ps. It seems to happen a decent amount with the Pats, actually, and usuallly involves a raise for the player.
Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. Part of it is you seldom if ever hear about PS players turning down an offer to be signed to an active roster.

I can almost close my eyes and picture him taking snaps out of wildcat formations. I just hope he’s able to hit his target when they split Brady out wide.

Glad he's back, hope he work his way into the 53 assuming he doesn't get picked up.

When was the last time a former 1st round pick was on a practice squad?

Not a 1st, but Montee Ball was briefly on the Pats' practice squad. Mario Edwards Jr went 35th in 2015 and is on Giants' practice squad. Former Jets great Christian Hackenburg is on the Bengals'.

15th overall is, I would imagine, one of the highest picks to ever be on a practice squad. Hopefully he works his way to the 53.

Almost certainly the highest ever, since players with NFL experience weren't eligible for practice squads until a few years ago and early round picks who aren't Christian Hackenburg tend to play games.

Former Jets Great Christian "Hack" Hackenburg resents this post.

Damn this thread gave me flashbacks to my kidney stones because I was reading it in the hospital.

Maybe salt? I don't drink caffeine. No doctor or specialist was able to tell me why I got them or how to avoid them in the future. It'll probably happen again.

The nice lady from the Visiting Nurses Association didn’t show up today, Joe?
