Player Signing Patriots Sign Former Saints Receiver Humphrey

I will NOT consider him a "STer"

I am sick to ****ing death of considering otherwise useless ****ing stiffs as "STers"

This roster has PLENTY of other "STers"

What we need are actual "Football Players"
Every year you hate the idea of players signed almost exclusively because of their ST skills, and every year Belichick keeps 6-10 of them on the 53 man roster or the roster for Game 2.

At minimum, we have the three specialists (K,P,DS), Slater, Montgomery, Bethel, and Davis. (same as last year with Montgomery replacing Bolden).

Some would add M Jones (returner) and Wilson (almost always one STO LB). If Wilson is a major player as a LB, we might keep Langi as the STO LB. While we hope for contributions on defense, these players are key STers.

How do you explain this, It's like straight out of a Bizarro comic book.
This will go down as one of the dumbest moves ever, sorry BB, love ya, but this sucksa.
Moore, Pickens or Pierce, one of these 3 will end up becoming a star and we drafted a
guy that will probably be benched for 3 years. Metchie would have been great but he went before
all of these guys.

I’ll be sure to now add you to the list of reasons to visit this site less often than I used to.

What an f*cking idiotic post, punctuated by the fact that you posted it in a thread dedicated to a totally different receiver.

Also, have you been taking lessons from ChrisR2223 about how to cut and paste from an external source? Clown show effort in every possible way.

Hey Tubby, still think Tyquan 6th rounder Thronton was a better pick in the 2nd round over Pickens, Sky Moore and Alec Pierce who are all going to be starting WR's? And now they hire the moron Patricia....if they win more than 6-7 games this year I'll be shocked. And they passed on a possible future Welker/Edelman type in Kyle Philips..

Feel free to leave, then. Have you bothered to look at the situations that Moore, Pickens and Pierce went into?

Chiefs got rid of their most talented receiver in Tyreek Hill. They brought in JuJu Smith-Shuster and Valdes-Scandling as well. The only receiver from their top 5 WR who is back is Hardman.

You think that Pickens is going to start over Claypool and Johnson? Not happening. And who is throwing them the ball Trubisky.. LOL

As for Pierce. If he didn't start in that S**t show of a receiving corps in Indy, he was a waste of a pick. Seriously.

In the Colts and Chiefs, you have 2 teams that spent 2nd round picks on WR in Campbell and Hardman. Neither have lived up to their billing. Both teams almost completely revamped their WR corps. You pretending like going into situations where players are going to be FORCED to perform is some kind grand sign of their greatness just shows.

Thornton doesn't HAVE to be a starter day 1 with the Pats. They have 4 veterans in front of him in Agholor, Meyers, Bourne, and Parker from whom he can LEARN to be an even better player.

It was talked about, ad nauseum, when he was drafted and afterword that he was rated much higher by teams than by the NFL's page (which is run by a draftnik, not any actual scouting service). It was learned that several teams actually had a 2nd round grade on him. This surprised a lot of the "draftniks". Just like they were surprised about Strange being rated as a late 1st/early second by numerous teams.

EDIT: BTW, I'm a huge Kyle Phillips fan and had hoped the Patriots would draft him. I'm ok with the Thornton pick after watching film of him.

Another great post. First you post about Thornton in a thread dedicated to another receiver. Now you have doubled down on your stupidity by posting a link to an article that does nothing to support your contention that Thornton was a terrible pick.

Let me show you how it is done:

See, I posted an article that supports the opinion that Thornton was a smart pick. It was so easy to do! Don’t give up on yourself just because you have failed miserably so far!

“And now they hired the moron Patricia”. By that do you mean that they re-hired the coach with a degree in aeronautical engineering almost a year and a half ago?

Also, the fact that the Patriots jumped those three teams in the second round in order to pick Thornton strongly indicates that they had good intel that one of those three teams was going to pick Thornton. Pittsburgh is one possibility because their WRs coach used to coach Thornton at Baylor….you didn’t know that, did you? The Chiefs are also a possibility, given their affection for burners at WR.

Finally, there is a good chance that none of those other three WRs would be starting for the Pats, at least early on. They also haven’t played a single preseason game snap yet, so you being so sure that Pickens, Moore and Pierce will be studs based upon some second-hand training camp reports is idiotic.

Keep trying though, champ!

He is tied for best production out of that group. What is your point? That somebody got paid to write "5.97," and that actual NFL war rooms rated him higher -- and therefore your favorite "rating" website got it wrong?

Who drafted Ty Thornton in the 6th round?

How?

He is a second round pick.

Whoever thought they could get him in the 6th was wrong. The team that drafted him in the 2nd, was right. He was a 2nd round pick.
(By the way, it's been confirmed that we weren't the only ones who didn't believe your favorite "rating" website.)

What the hell is THIS idiocy supposed to prove?

And now they hire the moron Patricia....if they win more than 6-7 games this year I'll be shocked. And they passed on a possible future Welker/Edelman type in Kyle Philips..

Perhaps you can detail for us all of the work behind your opinion.
1) How much film study did you put into each of those receivers you copied and based random information on?
2) What is your football and film breakdown experience that legitimizes the opinion you would draw from (1) as well as from (3) and (4)

3) how many of their workouts at pro days, combine, private workouts, practices for shrink bowl, etc did you observe
4) how many did you interview, and how many of their coaches did you interview.

Thanks in advance, this will be a great help in determining the quality of your opinion

I just don’t get the negativity. If you’re a fan why crap on the team you’re ostensibly supporting?

or maybe I do get it, it’s all about you. Not the Patriots, just you. Eff that.

It is awful to say but in the short term at least it is lucky we didn’t draft Metchie.

Yep; I never would’ve drafted him as early as Little Nicky did, or at 50/54 either.
