Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

I don’t think his signing excludes us from adding more.
Maybe it’s a top end guy like Trey, maybe it’s a one year guy like Clowney, or anyone in between those 2.
I expect one more.
I feel we are out on chaisson as he is a mid level guy who will command 15-18 million .

I feel they might sign clowney or any other vet for under 6 million and hope the younger ones pan out ( swinson/ ponder / 2027 top 3 picks )

Considering that tight ends are relatively lower paid unless you have elite talent I don't see them drafting them in r1 or r2.

To build sustenance you need to get the most expensive positions from draft which is OT DE and WR. So I am thinking they might go OT, WR, DE in first 3 rounds unless we trade our for either BJT or Olave.

I have a hard time imagining why saints would trade olave.

He's got a big contract coming up and the Saints usually don't have a lot of money. That said, I think it's just social media noise.

Yeah, I've gone past it a few times (I live in Worcester).
I haven't been in there yet though.
I’ve been twice, the BBQ burger is good.

Due 15 million this year, probably can't afford the upcoming extension, considering they're just now getting out of 3 years of cap hell.

I don’t think chaisson sees that kind of money.
I don’t think many teams view him as a starter. Kwity paye got 16 mill. He has been a starter in the league since day 1.
Chaisson was pretty much a bum who couldn’t get on the field much before we took a chance on him. 7.5 sacks as the primary edge rusher after 5 years of poor production doesn’t exactly excite people.

Before last year he was an 18 snap a game, 10 sacks in 5 years guy.
He got an opportunity but what he put on tape I don’t think moved the needle much.

I’ll take option “B” for $500 and the truth, Alex
Theres one other truth still in play however - our GM Eliot Wolfe has proven incapable of selecting a “capable” wide receiver even when using a high draft pick. I give you Mssrs Thornton, Polk, and McConkey as proof of this truth beyond any reasonable doubt….
Good thing he’s no longer responsible for deciding the players to draft. Last years draft is proof of that.

Oddly quiet in general, not just Pats. Almost like: “Ok, if you didn’t get a bag day one, you won’t and should reset your expectations” message to remaining FA’s.
I think that teams and agents are resetting the markets because of what happened Monday.. So, there is a lot more going negotiating going on. Especially with how the Raiders threw around money and over-paid for Linderbaum..

There's some of that.
There's also some cajoling between front offices and agents that 'that's not really the market, that was the Raiders trying to hit their salary floor', so we might have a quiet couple of days.

Hendrickson is finding that out right now.

I'm also pretty curious about what Stephon Diggs' market is now.

Seems like the 90 man roster limit is the only thing preventing the Raiders from signing all of the FAs.

Surprised the players union even okayed that deal. I mean, sure they want the most they can get..but that what's stupid.

Every year that goes by, the drafts become that much more important because the cap keeps exploding causing teams to overpay. You can't pay $25-$30M per year on mediocre players.

Pats weren't that excited as we were going into FA.

Paye's pressure numbers are as follows:
2021 - 4 sacks, 6 hits, 28 hurries on 399 pass rush snaps (1 pressure every 10.5 snaps)
2022 - 6 sacks, 4 hits, 24 hurries on 337 pass rush snaps (1 pressure every 9.9 snaps)
2023 - 8.5 sacks, 2 hits, 18 hurries on 410 pass rush snaps (1 pressure every 10.4 snaps)
2024 - 8 sacks, 4 hits, 25 hurries 387 pass rush snaps (1 pressure every 10.75 snaps)
2025 - 4 sacks 5 hits, 29 hurries 408 pass rush snaps (1 pressure every 10.74 snaps)

Chaisson's pressure numbers:
2020 - 1 sack, 8 hits, 20 hurries on 336 pass rushing snaps (1 pressure every 11.58 snaps)
2021 - 1 sack, 2 hits, 12 hurries on 119 pass rushing snaps (1 pressure every 7.9 snaps)
2022 - 1 sack, 2 hits, 3 hurries on 73 pass rushing snaps (1 pressure every 12.17 snaps)
2023 - 1 sacks, 6 hits, 6 hurries on 154 pass rushing snaps (1 pressure every 11.85 snaps)
2024 - 5.5 sacks, 4 hits, 19 hurries on 309 pass rushing snaps (1 pressure every 10.84 snaps)
2025 - 7.5 sacks, 11 hits, 34 hurries on 409 pass rushing snaps ( 1 pressure every 7.79 snaps)

Only a fool just looks at sacks and not pressures as a whole.

In 5 seasons prior to the Pats, he played 1852 snaps in 72 games. That's 25.7 snaps per game. Not 18.

Math isn't your forte, Andy. Neither is understanding football.

The fact of the matter is that we really don't know what we got out of last year's draft.

We still have major questions about Will Campbell, Treveyon, Kyle Williams and Jared Wilson.

Woodson seems to be the only pick so far with a degree of certitude. Although even with Woodson, last year's safety class was the best one I've ever seen as multiple safeties taken both before and well after Woodson were considered as strong contenders for the all-Rookie team.

Last year's draft class won't be judged properly for another year or two. It could be great, but if 2 of the 4 players I mention above flame out, it will be considered underwhelming to mediocre. If 3 flame out, it will be considered a disastrous draft especially after 2024's nightmare draft.
