Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

I might want the Pats to trade for Olave over Brown. I think his concussion issues can be averted with a QB who doesn't typically throw coffin balls and having him run routes that are less dangerous. Doubs and Kirk would be nice add ons, but not a replacement to Diggs.

Olave's another high-risk, high-reward move.
In truth, probably the overall best WR you could get considering age and ability, but those concussions scare the **** out of me.

Olave's only 25 though...I wouldn't cry too much if you had to give up a first.

The first place versus last place schedule is generally overrated. The rotational schedule usually isn’t.

Lot of olave noise.. maybe a 2026 2nd and 2027 3rd .

But don't see why saints would entertain a trade when they can extend him next season. They have 100+ million cap space in 2027 and place costs only 15 million this year.

I'd be perfectly fine trading for Olave but it would feel weird trading a 1st for him considering the injury history. Now, I do think with better coaching and a better strength and conditioning and medical staff (which I feel NE has) then he can protect himself, and a few years removed from any issues, perhaps he is fine. But still, there is risk which should be considered in any trade. Additionally, he is on a fully guaranteed 5th year option this year for $15M, then becomes a free agent, so will need to be extended.

"Might be" or "yeah but" don't win games in Today's NFL. The Jets and Dolphins are the definition of horribly run organizations.

You never know who is going to be the worst team in the next season in March. No one thought the Pats would be a 14-3 team and going to the Super Bowl this time last year.

And the worst team doesn't always get the #1 overall pick. The Pats and Giants were arguably the two worst teams in the league in 2024 and they ended up drafting 4th and 5th in the 2025 draft.

The concussions don't scare me if he learns how to protect himself and his QB and OC do not put him in dangerous situations. He isn't a Welker or Edelman type of receiver who catches the ball a lot in traffic over the middle.

Every receiver has a potential for concussions, but there are ways to minimize them. I haven't seen all of his hits, but I bet at least some of them are from poor coaching and QB play. Bad routes. Coffin balls.

Who said the Pats would stay at 31? They could trade up.
And who said there won’t be difference makers at 31, there will be.

Hello manx did you forget they have Travis Hunter who they might like as a WR going forward?? Also Parker Washington emerged last year with TE Brenton Strange also they Traded for old friend J Meyers. They also have Dyami Brown who flashed in the Playoffs with Jayden Daniels a few seasons back. No room in the Inn for Thomas Jr??
So they already had Thomas, yet felt the need to trade for Meyers at the deadline.

Another red flag.

Carl Pickens, Anthony Miller, Willie Gault, our own Donte’ Stallworth & Cordarrelle Patterson.
Anthony Miller from Memphis?
Pickens was a good WR, thrived deep with Blake (I think) or maybe it was Palmer?
Patterson was never a good WR, good STs gadget guy but was overdrafted.

Am I the only one who thinks today has been dead silent so far?

Pretty boring day two. Still plenty of guys out there.

Calm before the storm

I wonder what the Pats are offering, negotiations on going I bet

I’m curious if the Jones signing has made us become “out” on Chaisson/any other additional pass rushers. They are much different from a frame perspective, maybe there’s room for both still?

Oddly quiet in general, not just Pats. Almost like: “Ok, if you didn’t get a bag day one, you won’t and should reset your expectations” message to remaining FA’s.

I don’t think his signing excludes us from adding more.
Maybe it’s a top end guy like Trey, maybe it’s a one year guy like Clowney, or anyone in between those 2.
I expect one more.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. It’s across the board, I’m getting that too.

It slightly slows down after day one usually, but doesn’t come to a standstill like this either.

A year ago Vrabel inherited the worst team in football. A month ago they were in the Super Bowl. Now they suck and don't know what they are doing.

One of the following us true:

A) Mike Vrabel doesn't know what he is doing, he sucks.

B) Some fans don't know what they are talking about, they suck.

Take your pick.
All my chips in the middle of the table for option B please. It kind of reminds me of a GDT.

It's a 2-month long GDT, it's actually incredible the staying power.
