I think Wilson still carries some cache based on historical reputation. I don’t agree with that, and think he is washed, but no one would rather catch passes from Jacoby vs Russell fair or not

Pats obviously offered the most and 49ers agreed to compensation and he isn't a Patriot says it all. He doesn't want to go to NE or Cleveland , he wants Pittsburgh. His agent is playing a division opponent (Browns) and Patriots (probably offered most money) against Steelers to up the $$$$$.

I’d love Aiyuk but I won’t sell the farm for him and certainly won’t do a first round pick. 2 and a 4, take it or leave it.

I’m more inclined to trade the 2026 first if needed to get Maye a weapon for year 2. We may even be picking top 5 and just get a stud WR.

High indeed. There is a good possibility that the second round pick could be the, like, pick number 33 or 34. And gawd-forbid they give up their first round pick...

And why would Aiyuk even want to come to the Patriots and play on a frozen, plastic field for a team in the basement? And play in front of cynical, spoiled fans and obnoxious sportscasters, yes I mean you--> Jones, Felger, Shaughnessy, etc.

The Patriots need to claw their way out of the basement with good drafting and F/A picks before they can attract players like Aiyuk. So far the Patriots administration has been pathetic in the F/A market, but we do not yet know how the draft went; I think it went a lot better than the F/A activity but we will see.

To the people saying it is too early to go all in on a WR like Aiyuk, there is value in giving your rookie QB that help from day 1 to make life easier and give him confidence.

The money isn’t an issue, honestly everybody else seems to make the cap work. But 49ers probably want a first, and the Patriots absolutely can’t get rid of a high first round pick by any standards.

A second is still a stretch and I think at that point you lose any potential for a trade to happen.

The only real painful thing about him going to the Steelers is how we’ll hafta hear everyday how other teams offered more but aiyuk wanted to play for the amazing 9-8sburgh steelers like when fields went there. The same place that kept matt canada as the oc for multiple seasons , has russell Wilson as the qb and hasn’t won a playoff game in 7 years.
