Dr Bob, I haven't heard anyone have confidence on Brown returning early.

I believe Vrabel said something to the effect.of he will be out for a few weeks and miss the rest of the preseason. I took that to mean he will not miss much more than a month total. If he was going to miss more than 2-3 regular season weeks for sure they probably would have used an IR spot. The fact they didn't seems to indicate they feel confident in his timeline being short term.

Not at Center. They don't even have one there, never mind two.

Van Roten has played center, started two games there for the Giants in 2024. He has also been the entrenched starter at both guard spots for various teams over the course of his 14 year career.

He is our top backup for all the IOL positions at the moment. Probably even when Ben Brown is fully healthy that will still be true. Or Brown might be our top backup at center, with Van Roten being the top backup at guard. That to me seems like a good balance.
