According to Jeff Howe, they started contract talks, but they are far apart on the price...

Turns 30 in October. Just had twins. All it takes is one hit or one dumb injury and any contract talks are ovah.

Doesn't surprise me that they're far off. This is his last chance to cash in and is probably asking for anywhere from WR1 to WR2 money and they're probably offering (at age 30) WR3 or WR4 money.

I remember reading an article about his agent bragging about getting him paid after this season or something

Maybe they can find some middle ground between the WR2 and WR3 spots, which is pretty much where he belongs and what his stats suggest in this offense.

Of course, after Amendola’s pact, that may be a much tougher sell.

Not sure what kind of leverage he really has. If it were my team, I'd lean toward not even trying to extend him. Unless the player is a clear stud, why would you commit to anything past age 30?

Real NFL execs clearly have a different philosophy, the way players older than 30 regularly get huge multi-year deals in free agency. What do I know?

Pats might be going to the RFA Pool at WR again any intriguing names in 2019??

Interesting to hear., lets see if anything happens.

A vet WR can still produce well at 30 it's age 32 and up when it's time to get anxious.

Hogan was injured early in the negotiations, but he's expected to be able to return at a lesser production level before it's over.

Agree but that is not my point.

Teams have almost an actuary-like function which takes into account risk. Things like age, position, injury history, upside, production, etc are all factored in when determining guaranteed $, contract length, cap space used, etc.

My point is....the younger and healthier he is, the more money he will make.

Thanks for the information; I just bet my sons college fund on Chris Hogan being benched for this upcoming SB?

I think this list repeats itself once or twice.

We say this about every single player due for a contract.

Why?

I think he just mis-typed. What he was trying to write was "Buy a hoagie".
