It's a 13-6 game, the Jets can't score you're 5-10 yards from field goal range to make it a 2 score game and you do that?

I don’t love Mac but no doubt he was a great value draft pick at mid 1st round. You have all these other teams trading away multiple 1st rounders for QB busts that aren’t even serviceable.

That’s the thing - just in that draft year you had the total package in Lawrence and then the next two guys taken at 2 and 3, Wilson and Lance, were just physical specimens that “could” become elite if they could absorb the mental side of the game. Well, neither did. Meanwhile, Fields and Mac were taken in the teens despite less overall physical talent and are both far better.

Yeah I think the context is important though. Just saw Allen go from truly one of the worst college QBs ever (off the charts bad accuracy) and Mahomes go from mid round prospect to superstar. Both guys really raw and lots of skeptics and teams willing to take chances for the athleticism/arm talent even with the bust risk. But I think Jones is a good pick. Chances of success in NFL is always low at QB position…even if be winds up as a highly competent backup or fringe starter that’s a good return for a QB while retaining your draft capital.
