On the play that you're talking about, the Steelers were down 28-23. They went for the 2 and failed. Had they taken the PAT, they would have been down by 4, so that on the next touchdown they could have taken the PAT to be up by 3. At that point, Jacksonville's FG would have made it 31-31 instead of 31-29, and Jax might have actually had some incentive to play for a TD on that last drive.
The lesson: a 2 pt conversion oftentimes makes sense when you have 2 yards to go, but when you have more than that it's usually better to kick the PAT. Still not sure what this has to do with the game on hand, but I hope that answers your question...
