OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

TB12 is already on a contract with two voidable years, the ultimate in fake extensions. He has a $42M cap hit in 2022 if he does not play, so Tampa better pray he does. His contract automatically voids in 2023 and even that season he's gonna cost Tampa $24M in dead cap. Kinda like where we were last year, taking tens of millions of dollars in cap hits for a guy who isn't even on the team. Seems hard to make the numbers work for 2023 but that's more Tampa's problem than Tom's since if he wants to keep playing he's a FA and can walk.

This is why it makes all the sense in the world for one last go next season.

It suggests there's a chance he'd be playing out of obligation rather than desire, and that's not a great place to be.

This Rams game was literally the 2015 Championship game all over again. The Oline couldn't block at all

Lol…stop with this click bait. The Rodgers stans can fight with this yappy little dog.

Every era, there’s a guy who moves the bar higher…because it’s easier to do that. Notice Josh Allen has 3 of those 120+ passer rating games? That’s in 6 games games played. Soon enough that will be the norm.

I know but still it's annoying. It should be blasphemy to ever put anybody in Brady status now. Remember how hard it was for the majority of the public to declare him the GOAT? Even after SB 49 there was Montana pushback then 51 happened and it was pretty much cemented. Now you just have to be great a few years and "OMG GOAT"

Yeah, but like 99.99% of people say Brady is the greatest. It’s about as high as you’ll ever get in pro sports where there’s rivalries and jealousy. And you’ll always get hot take. recency bias idiots as well. In this case, you have a hot take artist, recency bias idiot who is also a homer…and annoying. Quite the combo.

But whatever...Mahomes was amazing and deserves hysterical praise. We’d do the same if it were Brady. It’s better than these tools thumping for Manning or Rodgers because of hypothetical coaching and alternate realities as they make excuse after excuse. Mahomes wins, at least. The type of game he had tonight was next level and exactly why we’ve said all year Rodgers is a fraud.

This guy looks to be like Tampa's Fitzy, a fan recap of the 2021 season. A lot less burping though

Tough draw with the Rams and all the Bucs problems. They struggled, no doubt, but they threw 54 times and ran 13 times. The AFCCG had that snap count issue where some lineman was tipping it off and the Broncos were there when the ball was snapped.

I wonder what the Bucs would have been like if they hadn’t drafted Wirfs. They really might not have won the Super Bowl last year…Donovan Smith isn’t very good when he doesn’t get help. Wirfs is such a stud and transforms that line. The Bucs were smart to trade up a spot. Hope the Jets are enjoying that Becton pick…lol

I have this strange feeling like that game was meant to be Brady's last game...and I'm not sure why. Maybe because he can't end his career after winning a championship because then he's missing out on a repeat attempt. And he can't end it on an embarassing loss. A hard fought, hold your head proudly type of loss seems almost like the only ending he could accept.

I saw his social media posts, but reports from Darlington are note worthy. I think Brady talks directly to Darlington.

I'm taking him at face value, though...he truly doesn't know for sure right now and needs time to figure it out.

Well I guess Mahomes can only lose against a Brady led teams in the playoffs.

when you see all the key offensive weapons injuries Brady has had in the playoffs over his career, it’s crazy to think that Mahomes has never lost Hill or Kelce in the playoffs or hardly ever.

the silver lining about Brady possibly retiring is that I can finally be done with the NFL. no way I’m watching a league with Mahomes in it

get ready for the Bengals and then the 49ers/Rams to just layover

I’d be stunned if Brady doesn’t play another year. Those reports have come out of nowhere just before the playoffs starts.

In my opinion for what is worth, Brady demeanor after the game and in the presser wasn’t of a guy saying goodbye but of a guy that was pissed there isn’t another game next week.

Re: the reports, that's exactly how it would play out if Tom, as it was reported, wants to avoid a farewell tour. He'd keep it to himself and probably a few others.

If I had to bet, I think he'll play one more year. But I also think he's going to retire when he feels it's time to retire...not due to a contract expiring or whatever...and keep in mind with the contracts, there will probably always be more years remaining when he retires because he's pusing cap space down the road to free up more for the present. Darlington/Schefter are saying he's not committing to 2020 right now, and that's a first for him. Every other season he's 100% all-in for next season. I don't think his social media or his public pressers mean much.

I’m torn. part of me just wishes he would have retired after winning last season and to avoid the injury **** show that was this season. but the other part loves watching him play and wanted to also see him break the dome stat padders regular season records.

it’s bittersweet because for years I’ve said I’m probably done when he’s done. he was the only reason I still watched because imho, the NFL has been a **** product for years. he gave me a lot longer than I expected because I was thinking 2017 or 2018 was it

Yeah I can't put Rodgers over Peyton. No way no how. Manning was a general on the field. He got to 4 SB's. Rodgers got to one.
It's funny that we'd discuss Manning and Rodgers but not some of the younger QBs that we're seeing now. I know Manning's a POS and Rodgers acts like one.

I'd take your guy Mahomes over both of them.

Some of the other young QBs aren't too shabby either. Allen and Burrow have played well. Who knows, some day one of the young QBs may surpass what Rodgers and Manning have done.

Mahomes is at another level. He's off to a quick start and isn't letting up.

He surprises everyone, even his own fans. One of the things that makes him so great is that he always seems to surpass expectations. Everything looked lost last night and then boom, it's tied. Nobody can blame that loss on Brady.
