OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The fact that there is so much Brady noise in the social media should tell you that it's already over. It's similar to the last minute push for a RB or WR that they know will never happen. It's hilarious that Brady was the favorite until the Saints game and they get crushed just like AR did and now it's not even conceivable that TB is the MVP. Just stupid.

Bucs 2022 opponents.

Home: Falcons, Saints, Panthers, Ravens, Bengals, Packers, Seahawks, Rams, Chiefs
Road: Falcons, Saints, Panthers, Browns, Cowboys, Steelers, 49ers

That schedule is brutal.

At least the home/away groups are favorable.

As of now. Teams will drastically look different though.

Schedule strength never ever works out like it seems this early on.
That's true but looking at who the QBs are is always a good indicator. Who knows what will happen to Rodgers or Wilson but I think the money is on them staying so you play: Ryan (x2), Jackson, Burrow, Rodgers, Wilson, Stafford, Mahomes and Dak. That's about the strongest slate of QBs you can play these days.

Yes - let's be sure to move all MVP discussion into this thread only. Unfortunately, the the Big P will need to just read all this pro-Brady data and punch the air as he's powerless to do anything except post in a thread no one will read. Last I saw, he claimed that QB Wins are a real stat, after spending a year saying they aren't a real stat. Well, glad that's over with...hopefully he can connect with some old, washed up Colts/Steelers fans who went underground in 2016.

Oh really?

It is very tough on the outside looking in! However a few of those teams won't be near as good next season!

remember in 2014 when the pats had very strong qb schedule with really strong WR#1 so BB got Revis. I wonder if Tampa will do the same.

I still have my doubts if Brady plays next year personally though

I don't think we have any Revis' in the league but they will take care of Davis before they spend capital on another DB. Brady will play I think because of the various 'play until 45' quotes and he's still so good so it has to be fun. If Gisele is on board I think he plays.

We know many of Brady's playoff records are unbreakable but I wanted to see how hard Brady's regular season records such as TDs and passing yards are to break.

I found that it won't be too hard and a player like Herbert might be able to break it in about 18 years.

Herbert has a big start right off the gate with 9350 yards and 69 TD in his 1st 2 years.

Brady has had 6607 yards and 46 Td in his 1st 3 years.

Here is my calculation for how many years a QB like Herbert would need to pass many of Brady's regular season record.

22 Brady seasons
-1 TB sat
-1 TB injured
-1 extra game is extra season in 17 seasons
-1 10% increase stats is extra season of stats over 17 seasons
______
18 years.
So adjusted for today's league. It would take Herbert 18 years.

Plus Herbert has an extra year as he had entered the league at 22 while TB was 23.

If he has a Brett Favre type of career (which is what he looks like to me) he'll have a shot. Eventually all the old HOF QBs will be way down all these lists and it will be filled with the staffords of the world. It's a shame but it is what it is.

So if Brady retires this season, an elite QB that doesn't sit a year or get injured would only need to play 18 years to beat many of Brady's records. That could be Herbert or Burrows. I don't think Mahomes can do it.

If Brady plays 2 more seasons, an elite QB would have to play 20 seasons probably at an earlier age at 22 to 42. Much harder to do.

An interesting way of looking at it with the Wikipedia link. Career TD passes isn’t made to stand the test of time.

Games increase, passing attempts increase, passing efficiency increases. Brady might be able to hold it for 10+ years…but eventually the rules and norms will have people saying things like “He only threw 40 TDs three times and 5,000 yards twice?” That’s how the majority of people view things in retrospect when they look at stats for guys who played decades ago.
