OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Bucs also announce that corners Jamel Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting are on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Now four players and two coaches have tested positive.

Quote from Bruce Arians, who has COVID

NFL and NFLPA now have adopted the new CDC guidelines that reduce the quarantine time to 5 days from 10 days for all Covid positive players who are asymptomatic, including those who are unvaccinated, per sources.

Part of a four page-memo sent today to NFL teams that outline the new protocols.

They finally smartened up about the vaccination status nonsense, so that's a positive, anyway.

Ranking Super Bowl contenders: Bucs at ... No. 8?!!

I won't bother attaching the link for the NFL.com article but they state:

"There's a real part of me that didn't want to even put the Bucs on this list,... I have felt all season that the Packers, Cowboys and Rams are better NFC teams. And shoot, repeating as Super Bowl champs is much easier said than done."

Since the offseason, in all of the football magazines and expert predictions and all that there was near unanimity that the Chiefs were gonna be an AFC favorite to probably at least make and then possibly win the Super Bowl because “uhh Mahomes and Andy Reid are the best” and yet conversely the Bucs were very rarely picked to make the Super Bowl and then win it because “well look at history, repeating as Super Bowl champions is incredibly hard so odds are against them.”

Tell me, which has been far more historically difficult to accomplish In the 54 years of the Super Bowl: Going back to back champions OR losing it and then winning it the following year?

The former has happened 8 times. The latter has happened twice. The latest of course being accomplished by one Tom Brady, the first time it was done since 1972.

Yes these are both stats that are victim to a relatively small sample size of just 54 games. But still, double standard much?

I would put them at 5 or 6 so they are not that far off...

5 or 6 sounds about right. They're too beat up currently. If they get Evans, Fournette, David, Winfield Jr and Barrett back by the divisional round(assuming they get there) I like their chances if they avoid the Rams

WR Breshad Perriman is back from the COVID-19 list and practicing. Also appearing during portion open to the media is S Antoine Winfield. All OL starters are accounted for along with TE Rob Gronkowski. P Bradley Pinion is at practice. No Jason Pierre-Paul.

With the new NFL COVID-19 protocols, presumably Bruce Arians, Mike Evans, both CBs Dean and Murphy-Bunting, Garver — could all be cleared to return in five days and be available Sunday if they are asymptomatic. No negative test required after 5 days. Evans still has hamstring.

Packers, Rams, Cowboys, and Bucs are all capable of winning the NFC....

I would still rank Bucs between 1-4.

AB healthy is top 3 WR in the league.
If Gronk plays like he did at the beginning of season, he is top 3 TE.
Evans will be back in playoff.
So the Bucs o is still a 3 headed monster.

Brady is clutch which makes him the top QB for the playoff. QB is the most important position, there aren't 4 or 5 let alone 7 QBs better then him in the playoffs.

Offensive line is top 3.
Defensive line even with injuries is top 5. Bucs are tied with the most sacks in the league.

Based on scoring offense, defense, TO & Pt differential:

1. Bills
2. Cowboys
3. Bucs
4. Chiefs

Take out AB injured or suspended and from a purely football perspective, he is a top 3.

This year, Evans was a top 15-20 and Godwin was around 5. When they were all playing together, AB was outplaying them on less snaps.

Then you watch the replays and he passes the eye test. He just schooled Gilmour.
