OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Mac is the perfect quarterback to test Bill. Exactly what people have said Bill will win with…a guy whose a good leader, is smart, won’t lose you games, is very accurate, but won’t usually win you games either. It is interesting to watch this play out.

Brady/Arians and Belichick/Jones seems like the football gods intervening so that nerds can finally have the answers to their theoreticals.

Arians says Sean Murphy-Bunting is making progress as he recovers from an elbow injury, but that he's still "a ways" away from returning. Doesn't sound like he's in play for next two games.

"I thought it was the perfect call," Arians says, asked about Belichick going for a 56-yard field goal that missed off the upright. Said he saw Nick Folk hitting from 60 in pregame, expected that call.

"I don't know what a fumble is anymore," Arians says of officials' reversal of early Patriots fumble forced by Shaq Barrett. Said he's continued to talk with league office, doesn't understand the reversal.

Here is Bruce Arians providing injury updates on Winfield, Davis, JPP, Murphy-Bunting, Dean and others.

They’ll trash the Seahawks if they’re healthy.
I still say the NFC West is Russell Wilson's division to lose until proven otherwise! The Cards are definitely legit this season though!

I'll keep him & Gronk out as long as possible to make sure they're healthy for the stretch run into the playoffs! Like someone have already stated,it's better to deal with injuries early on in the season than late in the critical part!
Literally no reason to go pay Gronk let him heal fully when he returns keep him limited there fine with AB taking most of his targets

I was reading '3 corners for the Buccaneers to target in trades after Week 4' on FanSided for iOS and I thought you might be interested in reading it too.
3 corners for the Buccaneers to target in trades after Week 4

Interesting and I think they’d have to part with Atleast a second round pick for any of them. If I were Tampa I’d do it though getting any of the three can make there defense too 5 again as Carlton davis would start defending WR2’s instead when he returns.

Some of you may be wondering why I've posted about Brate a couple of times. Here's why

Because of Brown (failed virus test) and Gronk (ribs, lung), Brate's gone from a 1/3 of the snaps guy to a 2/3 of the snaps guy. He can't play like he did last night when he's the TE1.

Yup. So far he's promising but that's all it is right now. He was ok vs Dolphins, meh vs Jets, bad vs Saints but pretty good last night, a B+ game in my book... also possible that he's hitting his head right now on his actual ceiling as a QB.

If Mac is right at his ceiling now can his coach elevate him to break it? You'd think the greatest coach of all time can do that, I mean he ahem "made Brady" right? We'll see about that. Time will tell.

Interesting projection note, based upon the (far too early in the season) analysis of teams at the sorta quarter pole:

Tom Brady is going to finish the season still never having been the starting QB in a game where his team has already been eliminated before game time. Meanwhile, Belichick is goign to coach his 4th non-playoff season in 4 non-Brady seasons as the Patriots head coach.
Decent chance (and maybe better than 50-50) it will also be his 3rd losing season in 4 without Brady as Pats coach.

Draw your own conclusions.

He has every intangible you want and looks great, but the team is averaging 18 ppg. Not everything should be blamed on his shortcomings, but good luck establishing a run game and keeping defenses from blitzing when there’s no perceived threat past 15 yards downfield. If this is his ceiling, he’s an ideal backup quarterback or maybe could get on a stacked team like Alex Smith. Hope it isn’t his ceiling and it’s more of a confidence or gameplan issue. But there’s no way after four games this is a personnel problem for having almost zero big plays…and very few attempts.

I still think if things go well they can get to 8 wins which is still a losing season but not horrible. Like alot of us have been saying you can only go as far as your QB in most cases. BB and staff had a good plan and did their job yesterday. They got weather help too, but they still lost even though they had the ball last. The game is about players. BB's wins are directly tied to Jones just like they were to Brady. All the great subtle things a coach can do to give your teams an advantage aren't winning games by themselves no matter what some people here think.

People lost all perspective when Brady left. It's like jilted Colts/Jete fans from back in the day. Maybe worse.

What is astonishing is that AB played 10 snap less than Brate. AB was their best receiver yesterday. He was the only one beating man coverage consistently

Perhaps Covid hangover?

I can think of one big reason to go pay Gronk, his contract which obligates the Bucs to pay him.
Love AB being targeted but Gronk's role is totally different. Blocking, major Red Zone target, etc.
