OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Nobody will be impressed with Tampa but if they win we know that they’re are a super team anyways

My thoughts too. This team has NO business being 3-1. Should be 1-3 but Brady and the O has carried the day. They have enough to get wins while guys get healthy given their next stretch of games. Having both Carolina and NO lose yesterday also helped them in the division. Football is always a war of attrition and who can handle it the best.

The Bucs are 3-1, having won all 3 games they should have won. They have the best run defense in the league. They have a top level offense. Coming into the season, it was understood that the defensive secondary was the team's weakest spot, and that's the area that's been devastated by injury. Their two close wins were close for multiple reasons, but lousy officiating figured prominently in both, and that's not likely to continue all season long.

So I don't really understand the idea that they should be 1-3, and I think people should be very impressed with what they've done, given the circumstances.

Also, it's only week 4, and the NFC may already be mostly sorted out. There are six teams with a record of 3-1 or better (Cowboys, Packers, Bucs, Rams, Cardinals, Panthers)m, and 5 of them are pretty much locks for the playoffs, barring the wrong injuries.

Mac was good and will be the best QB of his draft class. The way he was moving the ball down the field against a beat up secondary that is the worst in the league at the moment, how could the Pat's not score 30 points? He needs a receiver that can go deep and/or a red zone threat.

I won’t take this too far as it’s a Patriots subject, but Agholor averaged 18.7 ypc last season. Meyers and Bourne are both good receivers. Their red zone targets, all things considered, are well above average.

Mac Jones doesn’t throw the ball unless someone is clearly open. That rarely happens before the throw on long passes and in the endzone.

The Patriots would have a top 5 offense with an elite QB. Right now they’re one of the worst. Take it for what it’s worth. At this early stage, Jones is a paradox. He does all the right things, but the bottom line isn’t good. You miss every shot you don’t take.

I'm trying to decide if I believe in the Cards.

Yeah, good team finds a way to win.

It was so weird following that game though. The Brady Bucs are so much like the Brady Pat's were. Even in games where many things go wrong, just enough things went right for the win. We've seen the same script play out so many times.
Lady luck does seem to follow Brady.

Kellerman today said luck is the residue of design. I like that.

With Brady, the "luck" is often nothing more than Brady overcoming bad breaks because he's so damn good.

Will Tua play this week for the Fins?

Thanks. I thought he was still going to be out. Have to think Tampa's D can feast on Brissett.
They will come out firing after this insane week they just had. I expect the Pats to do the same against the Texans.

I gotta tell ya after the way they handled LA yesterday, I am starting to believe in them. Very impressive.

Yep. It's why I couldn't give Mac an A grade last night. He left a bunch of opportunities on the field....which I'm sure the Mac Jones in 2024 or so won't do. That is if he actually has an NFL offensive line to protect him by then. I just hope the lack of protection isn't being programmed into him so he checks down on instinct instead of taking those opportunities. OTOH Brady if we still had him would absolutely make the Pats a Super Bowl contender right now.

Still glad Pats have Mac. Just gonna have to ride the rookie roller coaster for a while. The only alternative was Cam (LOL) or moving up for Fields (which I strongly think would have been a mistake)
