VIDEO: Tom Brady and ESPN To Produce Nine-Part Documentary Series Chronicling His Career

After a successful month of chronicling basketballs “GOAT” Michael Jordan with “The Last Dance” ten-part documentary series, ESPN and footballs “GOAT” Tom Brady announced on Thursday that they are working on producing their own nine-part series entitled “Man In The Arena.”
In a story first reported by Deadline, “The series will be Brady’s first-hand account of the most iconic moments of his NFL career, including each of his nine Super Bowl appearances as quarterback of the New England Patriots,” Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr. reported. “Also in there will be smaller, seemingly insignificant instances that became pivotal events and paved the path of the future Hall of Famer’s journey, which takes a new chapter after his move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
Tom Brady shared the debut trailer over his social media accounts.
“Things that I’ve dreamed about have actually come true,” Brady says. “Things have happened in my life as I’ve kind of hoped they would happen. It’s been — I mean — just a complete evolution, you know, how I just kind of kept fighting and clawing to power forward. You just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and you keep trying to make progress, so when I look at over 20 years, I look at how far I’ve come. But there’s not one step that I took where I’ve realized, ‘Look how far I’ve come.’ But those series of steps that I’ve put together, I got, ‘Wow, that’s … that’s quite a journey.’”
The series is being co-produced by ESPN along with Brady’s new company 199 Productions and Gotham Chopra of Religion of Sports. Chopra previously worked with Brady on the award-winning “Tom vs. Time” Facebook Live web series during the 2017/18 NFL season.
Brady wrote the following statement/backstory in the trailer posting over Instagram;
“I have quoted Theodore Roosevelt’s “Man in the Arena” speech since I saw it painted on our weight room wall at UM in 1995. It’s a constant reminder to ignore the noise, buckle my chinstrap, and battle through whatever comes my way.
And while my football journey isn’t over, I’m excited to share my life through 9 Super Bowl seasons, while continuing to be the Man in the Arena in pursuit of a 10th. “Because there is no effort without error.” Progress over perfection.
199 Productions is excited to partner with @religionofsports and @espn to bring this all to life. Coming in 2021!”
Brady will attempt to add a seventh ring to his career story with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, but it’s clear he’s far from over talking about his rise and dynasty run with the New England Patriots.
How will the documentary end by 2021? We’ll just have to wait and see.
