OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Bucs playing short handed. Defence is hobbled and could give up lots of passes. In the meantime, the strong Pats defense will not be a walk in the park for the Bucs offence. Could be a close 1 possession game with the score for both teams in the mid to high 20s.

I don't think the part in bold has been particularly true so far. But Gronk being out should make things easier for the Patriots linebackers, and could help a bit with regards to the edge rushers on passing downs. And this is a game where Hightower crashing the gaps could be a big difference maker, if he can step up his play.

It's an interesting game because of the injuries, IMO, and I don't really have a huge amount of expectations as to how it's going to work out. Without Tampa being a M*A*S*H unit, I'd have picked the Bucs by 14+. With all the injuries, I could still see a Bucs blowout, a close Bucs win, or a Bucs close loss. About the only think I don't see much of a path for is a Patriots blowout.

And game time is drawing nearer...

It's all relative now. The rule changes have been going against defense for years such that there are several great offenses each year. 1 or 2 very good defences and a whole bunch of mediocre to bad defences. The Pats are a good d so far.

Probably needs a couple of weeks.
I think that's a little optimistic. It's fractured ribs now. I think Brees had the same issue last year, was out several weeks, and came back too soon. I don't think they'll rush Gronk back. We might not see him on the field until after the bye week.

Again, I don't believe that the portion in bold has been true. The defense was gifted Wilson in week two. In weeks one and three, the defense was a big problem. But this is week 4, so we'll see if that defense is starting to gel.

Pats defense has faced two garbage ass offenses and lost to two of them. At home.

Anyway how much of a lingering problem is fractured ribs? If he’s out for 5 weeks to be sure he’s 100% is he good or will this be an all season issue? The Bucs have an incredibly easy schedule and it’s more important he’s available at 100% for the stretch run and playoffs.

Brady teams seem to get hit extra hard by injuries after he wins a Super Bowl. Luckily no season-ending ones to key players like there usually are, yet.

I'd honestly let Gronk rest for a while. Brate is reliable and time for Howard to earn it.

If he can limit the # of times he gets in the 69 position, he should be back sooner.

Injuries could be a Problem for our defense today as well, Imagine jackson, uche or dugger is gonna hurt us..luckily they struggle to get the run Game going this might allow us to Play barmore more often to create some interior Pressure. Besides that i think our Front 6 additions are Not performing as i hoped. Neither of KvN,Anderson,Godchaux are playing consistently good or creating big plays so far. Judon is a beast but he is the only one so far imo.

I believe Tua had fractured ribs and will be out for about 3 weeks.

Yeah, that's probably rushing him back like Brees was rushed back last year. I think players who come back from this type of injury usually aren't fully healed and wear rib protectors.

They should keep Gronk out until after the bye. One reason Gronk retired was that he was being rushed back from injuries.

Sherman is starting. It makes sense as even in his current state, he should be better than practice squad players. But that's quite an an act of desperation. Pat's should be able to score points and so should the Bucs. Could be a high scoring game.

Brees broke 11 ribs and had a punctured lung. Gronk, supposedly, has two hairline fractures. Pretty different.

Does this mean Davis is out?

Wow, didn't realize it was that bad.

Boomer Esiason: “Tom Brady wants to play with older players. He doesn’t want to play with younger guys that’s why he threw a lot to Edelman over the years”

Huh? What is he talking about?

Theyre saying the reason why he didn’t like throwing to Harry and Gunner was because he didn’t have patience for young player when actually they just suck.

It's not the NFL if you're not hearing terrible narratives that fly in the face of all common sense.
