OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Same as I’m reading so who are teams gonna out there CB1 on is the question. I assume it’s Evans which means they either double AB or watch him feast
To your point as well the Tampa offense by and large runs through Evans

Bucs worked on a lot of shifts and motions on offense today, something they couldn’t do this time last year with Tom Brady, who was just leaning the verbiage of the offense.

Lot of vets maybe getting a maintenance day. Suh, JPP also not working at the moment.

I haven't posted a lot of the "action" tweets, since the Bucs haven't let the media film the way they should, but I'll give a compilation of Rick Stroud's tweets about today's work.

Question Tanner Hudson’s blocking all you want, he’s got great hands. Ran down a deep ball from Tom Brady who also is in synch today with Antonio Brown.

Nice shot on the sideline from Nrady to Chris Godwin.

Mike Evans with an unbelievable juggling catch in a fade. May have been out of bounds but what concentration and hands.

Nice strike in the back of the end one to Chris Godwin from Brady with Kinley in coverage.

Great throw and catch from Tom Brady to rookie Jaelon Darden, who continues to impress.

Have Bucs training camps even been open to the public?

Have Bucs training camps even been open to the public?

At least some have been open to the public. Fan videos have been posted and the best reporters have mentioned numerous times that the fans are actually closer to the action than they are.

Word up that Goodell & the Competition Committee Cretins in their quest for more scoring NBA style considered allowing 2 footballs in play for 2021 but nuked the plan after seeing that offensive lineup from another "wrong" team.
Some of those responsible for the rules of the game invested heavily in fantasy football and make rules that help increase their profits. It's a great spot for them to be in.

Bucs coach Bruce Arians said Tom Brady will start Saturday’s game unless the field is sloppy from rain from TS Fred. C Robert Hainesy won’t play.

Bucs QB Tom Brady says he is prepared to start and play as long (or as short) as coach Bruce Arians wants him to play Sat. vs. the Bengals.

Tom Brady says he will like I wear a sleeve on his left knee when he plays but hasn’t needed one in practice and says he feels better physically than he has in years after surgery to repair a torn MCL.

Video: Tom Brady likes what he’s seen from Bucs rookie quarterback Kyle Trask, putting extra time in to learn the game.

One of the Brady hydration principles is that we all should drink a half-ounce of water for each pound we weigh, every day, at a minimum. He brought a water bottle backstage in Canton last weekend.

Brady drinks 40 oz of water the minute his feet hit the floor. I'm not that dedicated, but drinking a full bottle of water (17 oz) the minute I wake up actually has done wonders for being able to start my day. (I don't drink coffee)

Yes, if you miss Bucs-Bengals preseason opener Saturday night, it will be replayed on NFL Network … Monday at 4 a.m. … primo slot for the defending champs.

It took Brady one season to put the Bucs above the Chiefs.

I don't know...maybe, maybe not. I'm more inclined to agree with Tony on this one, and it's difficult for me to envision a scenario where a coach/GM played his cards better over a fifteen year period than Belichick. I think Bill was the game's best GM from roughly 2000-2012 until the league caught up to him and started putting economics/analytics guys in their front office rather than meathead football guys. And as a coach, unquestionably he was overall one of the best, though that's challenging to actually measure.

Though, about five years ago, things really changed. IMO, the last five years just left a very sour note:

  • I screamed at the TV for the only time I remember when I watched him piss away HFA in 2015, and then listened to him have the nerve in a presser to say that HFA wasn't very important as long as they got the bye and #2 seed. Really? The Brady/Manning HFA was everything, and the Patriots were always notoriousliy out of sorts in Denver. Of course, they lost by 2 points in the AFCCG and the home crowd noise in that game was specifically a tangible factor with their pass protection.
  • I believe the Cleveland beat writers...numerous reputable beat writers. The Browns were willing to trade more than a second round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo. Belichick wouldn't even hear their offer because of some control/spite point he was making.
  • He blew Super Bowl 52. He did. And it might have been the only three-peat in the Super Bowl era.
  • Gronkowski retired because of Bill; it's so obvious. The GOAT tight end, who was always incredibly unselfish, a great locker room guy, willing to take a lesser role, take less money, drew a line with Belichick. That's alarming.
  • He put himself ahead of the team and franchise by not doing everything possible to keep Brady. He couldn't have been more of a clown in the way he handled the situation. No offer. No discussions. Constant lowballing/skepticism about Brady's age. Constant attitude that everyone is replaceable. "Come back and ask us to match the offer if you want to play here." Yeah.
  • The excuse making, revisionist history, and ridiculous leaks that came out of Foxoboro last year were outright embarassing.

Bottom line is, Bill should have been the guy whose job was on the line and not Tom.
Totally agree. Bb has made a lot of head scratching decisions the last several years. Legitimate question to ponder, he might be losing it due to old age?

Is it a coincidence that Belichick’s GM skills fell to crap right around the time he began really planning for a life after Brady?

Yup. Was really disconcerting to hear the excuses (and they were excuses). That's not the BB I know.

But still if Bill hopefully has a successful rebuild - if you call it that as we did go on a spending spree - and gets us back to contention in the next year or so then all will be well.
