OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Brady is the GOAT. Montana is in 2nd and it isn't close. Move the goal posts all you want but you are wrong.

My point is that one guy seems to play better in the Super Bowl than the other as is evidenced by their super bowl QB rating...goes to clutchness.

While it’s clear Tom obliterates Joe in Super Bowl appearances and wins, I think it’s unfair to say “Greatest of all time” but rather greatest of their generation.

Tom didn’t play in Joe’s era and vice versa. They also didn’t play in the same era.

Brady is the greatest of all time.

He’s also pretty good at football too.

Yup. One reason why Brady is the greatest is how he consistently elevated his team to greatness. He turned average players good and good players into stars and helped stars like Moss break NFL records. Those guys don't get elevated the way they were if Brady isn't there. And then the roster turned over over the years and then he had to do it over again with a new group and he did. And then he went to a brand new team and new coach and had to do it all over yet again... and he did.

Montana won titles with 1 team. He was good with the Chiefs but he wasn't what Brady was with the Bucs. He also got to play with stars like Rice Clark and Craig year after year and in a completely different era where it was possible to keep super teams together for years.

Wanna count how many super bowls Brady would have if it weren't for free agents like Rodney, Ninkovich, Revis, and Vrabel in NE? And not to mention Leonard Fournette and Antonio Brown in Tampa...and remind me again when free agency started in the NFL....

You are still alone

He is a troll.

But a much better Stat would be conference championship games.

How is Montanta in all conferences games?

The AFC was weak in the 80s and 90s, From 1982 to 1997 all superbowls were won by an NFC team. And during that time frame only 3 games were close. All other wins were NFC blowouts against AFC inferior teams.

How am I a troll? SB1 was the one who brought up Montana in this thread.

In conference championship games:

Montana (as a Niner) - 119.4

Brady (as a Patriot) - 86.1

???

There's nothing unfair about it. If you want to assert that it's impossible to be sure because of the differences over the course of time, and the inability to adjust for all of them, that's a good argument, and I think most people would end up conceding that they are ranking partially out of "I just know".

But it's not unfair to talk about the greatest of all time.

I brought it up because you're comparing total ratings of two QB's where one played in a lot more games than the other and you're doing the same thing here. That comparison is worthless. Brady played in 14 of those games. Montana played in only 7.

That’s why I said let’s compare their QB ratings in their fist four super bowl appearances to even it out and you laughed….

Yeah you can move goal posts to where the section you choose wins your argument. Fine if you want to say Montana was more clutch than Brady was based in 4 games, then you have an argument. When you get out of that little box your argument falls apart completely. You really are alone.....well Rob Parker would be in your corner I guess

Not sure who you're arguing with but, if they're trying to argue G.O.A.T. status of Montana over Brady based upon 4 SB appearances, they're either completely dishonest or absolutely clueless about sports.

Can it be both?

LOL, we can compare their overall playoff quarterback rating too if you'd like...want me to remind you who played in a significantly tougher era for quarterbacks?

Montana - 95.6

Brady - 90

If you narrow the goal post any more you couldn't squeeze a football through it
