OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

#Bucs placed CB Richard Sherman in injured reserve. He had been out and an Achilles injury. LB Shaquil Barrett and practice squad PK Jose Borregales were activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

It’s the second time on IR for Sherman, meaning his season is over even if the team reaches the Super Bowl.

Lots of fans saying Sherman robbed the Bucs because he played so little -- he made $13 million in 2020 with the 49ers, signed for basically a tenth of that with Bucs, making about $1.22 million this past season. Unfortunate he's been injured, but has helped a young secondary.

The Bucs-Eagles tickets are the most expensive this weekend with an average purchase price of $343 and a “get-in” price of $231, according to TickPick, a no-fee secondary ticket marketer.

Bucs have also activated OLB Shaq Barrett and practice-squad kicker Jose Borregales from the reserve/COVID-19 list. As reported earlier, WR John Hurst has been signed to the practice squad.

crazy given on paper this and the other two seed game are the worst of the weekend
Looks like they still have many tickets left so I'm not sure what the final prices will be. It would be disappointing if it's half eagles fans. I've read from a few season ticket holders that they would sell theirs if they could double their money or whatever. I don't understand how fans could sell the tickets after how long it's been since they've received a home playoff game with fans.

There are a ton of talented wr FAs slated for next year.

OBJ would be interesting target, could probably be cheap and he loves Brady
OBJ, would bea great addition for Brady. Likely a reasonable price Too. The team really needs to the #2/3 cornerback positions.

Joe Judge fired **** that arsehole - another arrogant assistant coach who couldn’t do **** without Brady but dared to call him a system qb lol
When did he say say that and in what context?

Coaches from BBs coaching tree dropping like flies. I don't think there is anyone left.

One could argue Vrabel but it's incorrect as he was just a player under BB.

But Bill O Brian might be back and McDaniels has a shot.

The way he pushed his way out of the Browns, it comes across to me that he will go to a talented team who will paying him the most.

Bucs got the talent part but I don't think they can outbid other teams. Not with Evans and likely Godwin on the team.

I think everyone can agree that Flores definitely shouldn't have been let go. Texan fans can bash Bill O'Brien until the sun comes up and some of it's for good reason. Still and all he kept Houston in the playoffs or in contention for the AFC South most of the time!

I had the notion that certain coaches in NE weren't giving Brady enough credit and incredulously perpetuating the notion that Brady was a system QB. Didn't realize judge was one of them.

I also found this interesting "Belichick knew better than anyone how to help utilize Brady’s strengths." What Brady's time in Tampa has shown is actually the opposite. That at least in the later years in NE, say 5 years, BB has been holding Brady back with the lack of talent and depth in the offensive skill player positions.

The amount of talent and depth that the Bucs have at WR and RB is incredible. They lost so many guys and a player like Miller still has a hard time cracking the line up or getting snaps. Miller would be a fine WR4/5 on basically all other teams and probably a WR3 on some.

In NE, it was just JE and Gronk for so long as the top targets. If they went down there, wasn't much else. Amendola, Cooks, Hogan, and Bennett were there to help in spells for a season or parts of seasons.

So.... Not safe after all, then.

I don't know if B.A. and Brady are going to want to deal with another diva WR so soon, though. I'd love to get into their minds about that.

I think it's fair to put it this way, though you may disagree:

At the start of Brady's career, when the rules were more favorable to the defense, Brady probably benefitted from having BB putting more resources into the defense. TB hadn't quite gotten to his G.O.A.T. level yet, and a good defense meant that he didn't have to carry a team yet, but could just "manage" the game until/unless it got to the point where he needed to step up.

But, with the changing of the rules, and with the decline of the defense's talent level, post-2004, that changed, and getting Brady more offense was the key. It was missing out on this (albeit not alone, and among other things) that was most likely to cost the team starting in 2006. The ideal was, obviously, to have both, but we saw the evolution from the start.
