OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Trying to use WAR in football is dumb.

Well it depends. Maybe not WAR but I think it's apt to challenge when Sony Michel/team homers cite his rookie year, when a decent replacement RB player could have done the same thing without burning a 1st round pick at RB. The holes he ran behind that OLine, Gronk, Develin were massive and he was ranked last in yards after contact and last in broken tackles.

Those throws are where you need arm strength most of all. Brady has a 315:11 TD/INT on the opponents 10 yard line or less. You need to throw a fastball there almost every time so it gets to the target and not knocked down or picked.

While you need arm strength to get the ball downfield it's not a bad thing to make those throws a rainbow or lob so it goes to the right shoulder and a receiver can outjump the defender to get it.

Like I said, Brady's arm strength is just fine on short to intermediate throws. THis is why it's stupid to complain about Mac's "lack of arm strength." He can make the throws necessary to win games here in NE. Brady did it here in NE for 20 years. No reason to think that Mac can't. Our offense is designed for the dink-and-dunk QBs like Montana, etc., not guys like Rodgers, Mahomes, or Allen who can get the ball downfield with ease on a single throw.

absolutely absurd he's going to have more MVPs and 1st team AP now. I know regular season awards and all of that, but it's still a joke. a players stats who don't tell the whole story. you'd think with all of those td's and so few int's he'd be leading a top 5 offense every single season
But who will have more NFCCG wins?

If you put someone on IR they’re out 3 games. They can’t be back for the playoffs. Unless I guess were talking NFCCG.

Bill and Josh asked Mac to throw it 3 times in a game in unfavorable weather. Didn't stop Josh Allen from throwing. Brady for sure would have been slinging it out there.

That tells me the team feels Mac's arm isn't where it needs to be yet. He is only a rookie and has an offseason to work hard on improving his arm strength and I have no doubt we'll see a much better QB next year.

If Larry Bird had gone to play for the Pacers for 2 years, a third of this (analagous) board would be derisively calling him the Hick from French Lick constantly. So many crazy, dumb homers here who didn't even want to hear any valid criticism when the Patriots were 2-4 and an unprecedented 0-4 record at home.

The vitriol here against the greatest QB in NFL history borders on the highest levels of comedy.

.

why are you so obsessed with trashing your own team? This is what you do on the main board every day.

Nah that's where morons like you can't process simple information. When they were 2-4 it was absolutely legit to call out the idiotic decisions being made. I was complimenting the team on its 7 game winning streak. I'm a fan of the team and want the Pats to win another ring. I know nuance is hard for complete idiots like you.

Yes Mac can make all the throws and was a home run draft pick. You can make all these points without trying to diss tb12 every chance you get. It's bizarre and hilarious at the same time. Like some psycho Bulls fan who keeps dissing Jordan after he went to the Wizards. Crazy.

He's not the only one. There's a lot of ungrateful mfers in the main board too. You don't have to root for him but don't bash thr guy

Nonsense. He's a rookie who played college ball in Alabama...if Bill didn't think Mac had the arm strength to play in the NE weather conditions he wouldn't have drafted him. And even with Allen's arm strength, his passes were sailing over his receivers that day.

Right, your avatar suggests who your allegiance is to and it's not NEP.

Shall we pull up some of your posts from earlier this year when the Pats were 2-4 and see how you've felt about Mac back then? And how many Bulls fans do you know who passionately followed the Wizards after MJ left? You people are part of a cult and you don't even know it...

Drafting Mac isn't saying Mac is ready to do that in year 1 it's saying he's confident Mac will get to where he needs to be soon.

He was asked to throw 3 times. That speaks loudly to me where the team thinks he's at right now.

He has to hit the gym in the offseason for sure, but guys like him and Brady don't have the body types to put on a lot of muscle. I have a friend who does cross fit and he can't put on any muscle whatsoever. They are the perennially skinny types who can eat a bag (or two) of potato chips in one sitting and not gain a single pound.

Knew a girl who was like that. Slim probably 120 or so but she has no problem having Wendys triple cheeseburgers sometimes more than one in one sitting and never gains anything.

Gotta have some bulk in the NFL to allow your body to take a lot of hits. Mac has taken a few big ones already.

Mac is never going to have the arm strength of an Allen. It is what it is. This is why I think he's perfect for NEP and our dink-and-dunk offense with occasional shots downfield. It has proven to work.

Even if he does not win MVP, man has Brady shown that Bill was a clown for giving up on him. Look a these past 2 seasons with 40 TDs each and the wins and comebacks and the SB. I agree with Pats1960 that Bill moving off from Brady is by far the worst sports move in Boston sports history.
I think selling Ruth to the Yankees will always be the worst move in Boston sports history, but I absolutely get where you're coming from.

Bruce Arians Press conference:

-Ronald Jones is in a boot

-Antonio Brown is a management decision - how he is removed from the team is up to them. No interest in bringing any more WRs.

Great breakdown of the GWD.

It really is amazing how little we're hearing about Brady because of the ridiculous coverage of AB's tantrum. I'm glad to see that someone in the media has noticed.

Kudos to Josh for helping get us a ring with Sony Michel as our RB.

I think you're in the wrong thread. You won't find Brady haters here unless they're trolls.
