OT: JPP resigns with Giants (update: or not)

The original reported deal sounded insane. But the new deal doesn't sound that much better.

4 years, $62M, $66M with incentives, $40M guaranteed for a guy who has missed 12 games over the past 2 seasons.

They had him on a franchise tag for just under $17M. It looks like his first-year cap hit will be only $7.5M, which frees up some room for them this year since they were tight to the cap. But next year it jumps to $17.5M and stays around there. If he plays into next season and they want to get rid of him in 2019, it won't be too prohibitive ($10M in dead money).

Wow. People spending way too much on edge rushers. I know rushing the passer is important but that is too much money.
