OT-ish: The gambling thread

Congrats man you and the mick did really well!

I don't think I lost more than 5 bets, maybe 6...but I just basically bounced between $300, $500 and $1k bets. I've bloviated enough about how disciplined I try to be when it comes to gambling but I do get pangs of nonsensical guilt when I think about betting more than $1k even if I could budget for it.

I told myself I should hit the mustang ranch for an hour with a couple of girls but I'm probably just going to put my money towards moving to another country, hopefully by June/July.

Thanks! As I posted a little while back, the lion's share of my season's winnings gets pulled out for the Santa fund but an unusually good Week 17 (go figure) set me up for a nice playoff run. I am always a bit more aggressive with the man's money than I am with my own and this year that paid off handsomely, last year not so much.

We have friends and family that have retired to Costa Rica and one of our couple friends are now in Ecuador. Their green goes far down there and they live well. I hate the damn heat and the bride will not live more than a reasonable drive from the grandkids so we won't be leaving New England anytime in the foreseeable future.

My inner degenerate is chomping at the bit. From the end of hockey season to the midpoint of the preseason when rosters take shape enough to feel comfortable hitting the season win O/U totals is just too long going without.

Honestly? I'm super regretting the move for a variety of reasons. I'm definitely in the wrong part of Austin. I actually am miserable so far, thanks for reminding me!

I was pretty close to the Peppermill but I preferred the Atlantis. I think I just had better luck there. IDK what oddsmaker the Peppermill used but the Atlantis had their own oddsmaker.

I went to the Atlantis once when I had a bet that was large enough that the Peppermill wouldn't accept the full amount. Actually, come to think of it, I went to the Atlantis twice. Once to place the bet and once to collect.

The Peppermill was convenient for me since it was within walking distance of a Motel 6, which let me have my dog. I also found a pretty nice casino in Sparks which let me bring my dog with me, The Nugget. But The Nugget's poker room sucked (this was about 5 years ago so it may be nicer now).

I haven't. But what I've realized is I was very spoiled by how many fun things were within walking distance. I'm on the north side of Austin which is soccer mom and shopping heaven. I hate it. I need my grit and grime.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to explore downtown Austin and south austin this week and buy some tickets to some musical concerts. I needed to leave Reno for ex-wife breather related reasons so I don't regret the move but Reno was basically the perfect city for me. I'm definitely regretting where I chose to rent in Austin and am considering paying to get out of my lease and moving further downtown after some exploration.

Steve's Bathhouse. A dispensary 1.6 miles from me. The Atlantis Casino. Pokeher Knights (a swingers club), etc. Just all the sleeze a guy like me could have whenever he wanted.
