I haven't mentioned much about my back lately. I had a 2nd surgery in November of 2023. This time it was by Dr. Andrew Clavenna. He interned under Dr. Robert Watkins. Watkins is the surgeon who did Gronk's back.

Almost immediately saw a difference. They took out a 1" dia. chunk from my L4/L5 and did some cleanup on L5/S1. I was on the painkillers for a week afterwards.

I did PT starting in January as the Doc basically had me on bed rest for 8 weeks. Finally cleared PT in August. In September I started playing Roller Hockey again. Last night, by team won the Fall league championship. Again, with no pain in my back.

A lot of you wished me well and gave me support and I truly appreciate it. Especially @Ian , @Scotty and @SammyBlueCat.

I am glad that you’re doing well! Congrats on the championship!

That’s really awesome. To go from something so ****ty to gettin’ back to doing something you love, AND winning the championship! Congratulations.

Great news. Amazing that you can now play roller hockey again. Well done to your team in winning the Championship.

Awesome brother. Merry Christmas as well!

Great to see this, been there done that for my L5/S1 disc rupture. You are doing the best thing you can by being active, but stick with the stretching exercises before exerting yourself and manage both your diet and stress level. That’s helped me not have to go through it again for close to 25 years now.

Happy Holidays!

Glad you’re doing well . Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Nice job. Congrats on your season and on being pain free!

Living in pain and unable to do the things you love is a tough way to live. You’ve seemed to be in a much better mood lately as well.

Was active in sports all the way through my 40’s, acls, shoulders wrist and elbow all had some surgery or two over the years. Was so fortunate not to have the debilitating back issue.

You can rehab just about every sports injury out there but backs are tricky and unpredictable. You are also at the mercy of the system. Some people just give up after the doctor says “that’s the best we can do.”In other words. “Live with it. Deal with it.”
Glad to see there is a winner out there. Congrats on being pain free and a doctor who was willing to do it.
