Come on, man. Quit kicking the victim.
Seriously, WTF is wrong with people? He kicked the **** out of her, threatened to kill her, and was convicted. But she's somehow to blame. Jesus.

Rooting for the same team is swell and all, but there are some lowlife posters here I wouldn't spit on if they were on fire in real life.

will there be any outrage in Dallas or is it a backwards arse place that has the mentality that women deserve what they get?

Apparently there is no outrage by fans in Dallas as long as he can rush the passer, they put blinders on .. the media has more integrity than the fan.

Compare to what Brady did not do and the subsequent brouhaha...

Is that last fact accurate? I got the impression that she chose to take the money over having him convicted, and thus he wasn't convicted. Maybe I missed something.

These intense situations polarize us. The only viewpoints I don't trust are those that are extreme and absolutely certain.

For example, about the allocation of responsibility here:

Of course we shouldn't blame the victim, and women have been getting that treatment for a few thousand years now. It needs to stop. Many of the assumptions that allow it to go on are deeply woven through our society and should be challenged, everywhere. "Local culture" isn't an excuse. And this one is on the men to fix; women shouldn't have to participate when they aren't the cause.

On the other hand, everyone needs to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions. If you choose to have intimate relationships with very large men who make a living through extreme violence and show little emotional self awareness, and while in those relationships get in to a pattern of intense arguments over unpredictable issues, then something like this is likely to happen to you at some point. Women need to teach this to each other and hold each other accountable for these relationship decisions.

A judge convicted hardy then hardy asked for a jury trial and hardy paid the victim off. Now thank gawd almighty, he's free and a Cowboy poster boy for #nflintegrity.

I have never had as much contempt for Jerry Jones as I do now.

Let me just give a short summary of what Jerry Jones REALLY wants to say...

" Sucks what he did, but he gives us a great chance at winning football games, and that to me is more important "

I'd have more respect for him if he just comes out and says that.

P.S I'm not even reading that statement cuz I know its full of crap.

He was convicted in a bench trial, then invoked his right to be tried by a jury. My guess is she was still terrified, didn't want to go through it all over again, and took a big payout so it would all go away.

Despite what she may have chosen to do post-conviction, the people saying she somehow was to blame for what Hardy did are just despicable.

Listen the pictures are enough. Maybe she didn't want a bad reputation to be exposed. I think she's far from an angel but hardy deserves to be out of the league

Bad reputation?? Far from an angel?? What you know about her that no one else does?

Listen man, I don't know in what universe does a girl deserve to literally be beaten head to toe by a guy that a foot taller and we'll over 100lbs more than her.

Yo I get it. Some girls do like to play the victim card, but this, this isn't one of them..

And good for her for taking a settlement. I just hope she's getting paid well over the 7 figure range. She didn't deserve to be going through the ringer, and having people like you judge her cuz she was dating a ball player. You know she was getting threats from Panthers fans right?

I mentally read this in Rick Grimes' voice.

Yes but you need to add the judicial system of North Carolina as well. Holder backed out (read: bought off) they still chose not to prosecute.

I wish she had just had a sliver more courage to face this guy and put him away. Getting paid was the easy way out. I get it and how she feels but...........just damn sad.

Disgusting.

This case could have still gone to court. Witnesses were available, the photos, 911 log sheet etc... Not sure why the DA backed down.

Hardy and Jones should be the spokespeople for Gawdell's integrity program......

Gee, were these pictures "lost" by the NFL office too???

What is nuts is that people will protest dogs getting beaten and killed but they let crap like this pass.

It'll be really interesting to see how both NFL fans and Cowboy fans react to this.

It's weird this was released on a Friday afternoon. That's an NFL move when they try to bury bad press (so like, every Friday).
I don't think this was a "release" - it was a leak. And I think it came from a very upset district attorney's office.

Hardy's record was officially expunged on Thursday, and the photos leaked on Friday. Could be a coincidence, I suppose, but I doubt it.

There isn't a rat's chance in hell he gets a conviction with a victim who is cooperating with the defense and not with the prosecution.

Remember Jerry Jones said last week after Hardy had his sideline meltdown that Hardy is a leader on the Cowboys and they were considering signing him to a lucrative contract extension.

Say what you want about Kraft rolling over on the draft picks, but give him credit in that the Patriots value character highly with respect to off the field issues and would never think about signing people like Hardy regardless of talent level (and when news comes out like Aaron Hernandez, cuts them immediately).

At a greater cost to the team than if they had waited, IIRC.

I think threatening to kill her probably had more to do with her leaving and instructing everyone close to her not to tell anyone where she was than money did. Imo she took that threat seriously given what she had already been through. Unfortunately at this point there only one kind of pressure that will keep Jones from giving him a long term deal and that's if their big corporate sponsors pull out. If Ford, MillerCoors, and American Airlines start pulling support then Jones will have to cancel any idea of extending Hardy and could be forced to release him, but I don't see that happening right now.

You're probably right in this case.

I spoke with my DA buddy and he told me that approx 50% of the cases he prosecutes are without the victim's cooperation. If there are witnesses, a victim's police report etc... there is a chance to prosecute.

But evidently the DA in this case decided that without the victim's testimony they would lose the appeal.
