I was just reminding everyone that Lloyd's numbers are deceptive.I wasn't the one who introduced the Cooks-Lloyd comparison, which I don't actually think is apt. My post was mostly a tangent, I have to confess. I think Cooks is about as good a #1 as Lloyd was a #2.
The Archer?
Always aiming for more money.
Try $80 million.
Insane...
I'm not sure he's the same type of receiver (downfield threat) that we're discussing. Matthews has been more of a short - intermediate route runner with a career yards / reception of under 12. He's likely a decent fit in the slot, but probably won't clear out coverage like Cooks.
Dorsett's the one to watch. Whether he gets cut tomorrow, makes the all-NFL team for the Patriots, or falls somewhere in between, he's the one WR on the team with the theoretical combination of skill set and measurables to really take the deep threat role following Cooks.
Play for the Patriots get paid insane money somewhere else....
Derrell Revis
Chandler Jones
Jamie Collins
Malcolm Butler
Brandin Cooks
Just to name a few. Bat signal call to any veteran still in their prime looking for a 1 year deal and then that last huge contract.
His problems have been catch rate.
When he landed in NE, Dorsett did not play much at all. Later on in the season he made some nice catches after some development from the NE coaching staff. If he puts it all together and makes the roster it will be another savvy move by BB because he likely knew that Cooks was down the road. Brady was not enamored with Cooks.
NoHis problem has been getting open. Route running. The guy’s still a big question mark along with Malcolm Mitchell

Completely agree.Without cooks, we don't beat Jacksonville and get to the Super Bowl . Jags all star CBs shutdown our possession wrs easily, and it was Cooks deep speed which won us the game.
Trey Flowers will be the next patriot to leave for bigger money. We don't pay our stars
A few just off the top of my head:
Brady gets paid
Moss got paid
Wilfork got paid
Seymour got paid
Gronk got paid
Hernandez got paid
Mayo got paid
Hightower got paid
McCourty got paid

His # of catches/targets is hardly the sample size to prove Dorsett is now a sure- handed WR.No
Catch rate, FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Phillip Dorsett 56% and 46% stunk when he arrived. FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | WIDE RECEIVERS 2017 67% after coaching up by the NE positional staff.
It’s a function of what passes are being thrown to him.His # of catches/targets is hardly the sample size to prove Dorsett is now a sure- handed WR.
