but we also beat the ravens and falcons and should have won the denver game (IMO Denver will be a 10-6 team by the end of the year). you have beaten NO ONE yet. it's not the point differential but the fact that none of the teams you've beaten are any good. if San Fran, Jax and Miami almost beat you, why can't the pats, steelers, ravens? That 7-0 record of yours seems to be a bit inflated but we shall see...
As is often the case, the Pats and Colts are both relatively close stat wise.
Here's a quick sample of a few through 7 games each:
Offense PPG - Pats 28.3 Colts 28.1
Total Points - Pats 198 Colts 197
Offense YPG - Colts 316.3 Pats 291.0
Defense PPG - Colts 13 Pats 14
Defense YPG - Pats 285.7 Colts 292.1
Colts 7-0 record is against opponents with a current .515 winning percentage (17-33). Of those 7 teams, 1 has a winning record, 0 are .500 and 6 are below .500.
Pats 5-2 record is against opponents with a current .785 winning percentage (22-28). Of those 7 teams, 3 have a winning record, 1 is .500 and 3 are below .500.
As stated, it all comes down to execution on gameday. However, it certainly makes a curious case to wonder what each teams record might look like had these schedules been swapped.
Additionally, as history has shown, flashy stats and impressive regular season records don't mean much in the post season.
