Very solid B.. but the jury will be out until December...
The first 3 picks A... but kinda lost me when they kept trading back in later rounds...

Time to own it.

I go B.

Some odd picks in 5 and 6, hated the QB pick. Loved first three picks, Crownover, and Miller.
Exactly the same for me.

Don’t forget about getting another 2027 6th round pick in addition draft that should be much better.

Solid B. Hard to get to A picking 31 and on the back end of runs on positions in a weak class.

Traded up when needed, got some nice prospects, a couple I thought were meh but no real wtf pick ala BB and Rohrwasser.

every team in the AFC east did all right for themselves I think

A very B draft. Addressed most of the big needs besides off ball LB. (unless you consider the guy we took in the 6th) We drafted two players I liked (Lomu, Raridon) and a guy I loved in Jacas.

Day 3 was meh. But I liked the OT and LB we did take. Overall solid draft.

Whenever you can draft 3-4 guys who will turn into starters, its a good draft. I think we did that with the first 3 pics. I really like that Lomu and Crownover put Campbell on notice. I don't mean that they will threaten his for his job at this point, but they are massive motivators and in his rear view mirror. Competition has a way for pushing people hard. Will needed that.

Grade based on needs: C.

Pats biggest weakness was the the entire OL, but only took one significant OL in the first round. Edge was another need which they addressed early. They needed better blocking at the TE position and they took one in a reasonable round I. Not taking a WR at all could signal they plan on trading for Brown. If I were the Eagles, I wouldn't trade Brown.

The 3 players that have the best chance to play are their top 3 picks in Lomu, Jacas and Raridon.

Draft will be graded after year 1.

F. Patriots do not care about putting on a show and fielding an exciting product.
They have zero creativity and will never take risks and shoot for the homerun.
All 3 other teams in the division had better and more interesting drafts than pats.
Bottom third of the league team next year and boring while doing it.
Found Felger. Lol

I am very happy with rounds 1-3. Felt like we hit on high ceiling players who are all top shelf athletes.

Round 4 is the only other round I really grade.
Rounds 5-7 are a crapshoot. Happy we got Crownover. Some of the other guys will be interesting to track.

If you are the Eagles, you just blew up your franchise. What a great move.

C because of the lack of impact talent we desperately need. It will be a B if Lomu can play

LOL! There is no style points for drafting the NFL.

You found the Bills exciting by trading down in the first round twice and exiting the round all together? Nothing more exciting than waiting all night to see your team draft only to see them trade out of the first round.

Teams that take risks and shoot for home runs fail more than they win. The draft is a crapshoot. Putting your eggs all in one basket is like buying a lottery ticket.

And most of the unbiased reviews of the draft I have seen thus far (day one and two) have given the Patriots better grades than any of their division rivals. A lot of people seem to dislike what everyone else in the division did day one.

The Dolphins and Jets also had the advantage of having multiple first rounders ( some really high in the draft). But that is because they suck and traded away the few good players they had.

Really sugar coated this post.

Aren’t you the guy who said the Patriots would suck last year and “committed” to stop posting if they made the playoffs? The same guy who changed that to “once they are eliminated”? The same guy who changed that to “I will just post under a different user name”?
If a loser like you gives them an F it’s a sound endorsement that they did a great job.
Reminder: I would have held up my end of the bet. You didn’t even pretend to honor it.

B.

It's always boring drafting OL high.... especially when Lomu will likely have a redshirt year. But that's in line with what happened with Solder, so similar production would be this team's biggest need down the road.

REALLY excited with what I've seen/read about Jacas.

Hard to ask for more from the position we were in. We addressed several needs. Rounds 1-3 we got fantastic value. Rd 5 and 6 value was honestly somewhat fair if you just flip the crownover and prunty picks. Rd 7 are fliers

Well, this part is true: Patriots do not care about putting on a show and fielding an exciting product.
And that's just fine.

I don't know enough to give it a grade. But I didn't see a lot of people saying, "but they could have had xxx" because someone much higher rated was passed by when they made their picks. And there don't seem to be any Strange picks.

This weekend is for living the fantasy:

  1. a 12 year starting right tackle that makes the pro bowl twice in his career
  2. Judon without injuries plus better against the run
  3. Gronk redux with slightly better athleticism; will be a top 10 pick in Pats' history a decade from now
  4. Not a single 4th rounder taken by any team will be in the League a year from now. Right call to bail on it.
  5. This round and all the rest produce solid backups who become special team stars, except the QB, who will be a solid career backup and get the Pats through two early playoff games one year when Maye has Ebola for two weeks, only to come back to lead to AFCCG and SB wins.
May is for reality. June is for WR trades. July is for the rookies all appearing to be future pro bowlers, and for the Jets to win their annual off season awards.

I voted B but I think C+ is probably more appropriate. Day two made a day one pick I didn't love better. I maintain we really missed those two 4th round picks. We could have added some good talent there.

A: Killed It

Couldn't have done better in the first 2 rounds. That's a homerun A+.

I am not entirely sure about Raridon. Seems he will grow into a blocker. He has the size. Will also be a red zone target. But the rub on him is that he's not a good route runner, isn't sharp, and doesn't get great separation.

OK, TEs rarely do and they're just expected to body people, but whether they can outmuscle NFL safeties and linebackers remains to be seen.

I was underwhelmed by ALL the other picks with the exception of Crownover.
