That assumes I care about your thoughts. It’s a game. A vehicle to enjoy that game. Enjoy being the key word. Why follow something that only brings you misery? That’s where you are now with your position on Maye already set in your head just waiting around for him to fail and everyone else finds out what you already know. A good chunk of this fan base has such a skewed reality. Good luck there smartie!
You’ve cared enough to respond to me twice on the subject so don’t start lying now.

I will enjoy the game when the franchise makes smart decisions again, something which we seem to have a serious problem with right now. Did you enjoy the game yesterday simply because you hope that Drake will eventually be good?

You’ve decided a narrative just so you can come here and moan - maybe the forum brings you misery and you should take a break from it.

If you really don’t care then you won’t reply to me again and that will be the end of it.

Fixed it for you.
Our 22 year old QB in his second year, first with a qualified staff - this seems like excuses.

The Raiders played a vanilla zone defense all game and Maye, and the coaches, could not plan for that defense or adjust to that defense. Adjusting to a zone defense is as easy as it gets - zone defense is not something new or clever. That doesn't lead to any concern on your part?

You can’t give up 140 receiving yards to TEs and another 220 to a pedestrian WR group.
To not be concerned about this defense they should have shut down that passing game, not allowed consecutive scoring drives if 71, 52 and 66 yards in 3 of the 1st 4 drives of the second half.
Why is everyone acting like Geno is trash? His last 3-4 years have been pretty stellar.

Is he not that ?

If you as an individual player are being evaluated, then yeah. Not if you're preparing to play a regular-season game, however.
The starters get more reps in a joint practice than in a pre season game as well as one on one work against the opponent.
Preseason games are a joke.

Andrew Luck was accurate as hell and a great decision maker, very cerebral. Maye’s skillset is nit close to Luck’s
Maye is younger, less experienced…. you confuse experience with skills.

Accuracy is a skill.
Decision making is a skill that can improve with experience but the IQ is either there or it’s not.

Drake has thrown for accuracy, he needs better decision making and fundamentals.

You can develop football IQ.

I disagree, you can gain experience what to do in situations but you either have the speed of thought and the vision or you don’t.

Same in all sports, not specific to NFL.

Yep and I hated during the dynasty years. Too many times we saw the running backs walking on eggshells. If they didn't get a good gain on one carry, Josh would abandon it and go 4-5 wide on the next play.

Then he'd lineup in goal line formation in the middle of the field and if the RB didn't convert, he'd be done for the day.
Revamped/modernized his offense my ass. This is the same offense and I doubt it will change.

Anyone feeling confident about Drake Maye after Sunday?
Yes, I am confident that he will improve and get more comfortable in this offense. At this stage in his career he is not a drop back 50 times a game guy and that was a OC issue.

He made some questionable decisions (breaking pocket too soon, wrong read). The Int was a throw he has made quite a few times last year, but he was unable to step into the throw because the right side of the OL did not successfully block a stunt and Crosby was in Mayes face.

He made some very good reads and threw with anticipation quite a few times. The lack of run calls did not do Maye any favors. Ultimately it was on Maye to perform but he was not set up to succeed, the Raiders knew they were not going to run the ball.

So to answer the question again yes I do have confidence in Maye, my confidence in McD is shaky though and I loved when they brought him back.

Yesterday was Drake Mayes 14th game. Name ONE game in which you turned off the TV and said, damn, he's our future. He's had some good spurts, good drives, great throws....but those are always buttressed by stupid decisions, bad ints, fumbles. Rookie season or not, there wasn't any time where I as a fan of this team since 1984 looked at Maye and said, "this is our guy."
I do not think he is a good fit for McDaniels offense. There has been no Bledsoe vs Miami 93 at home moment. Or even Jimmy G vs Arizona. Or even Matt Cassell's lone at start vs Miami his rookie year. Even Mac Jones had a couple awesome games his rookie season.
To this point, Drake maye seems to be too ****ing dumb to be a good QB in the NFL. I really hope I'm wrong.

The sooner the Pats move away from Rhamondre (his decline has been rapid) and feature the Henderson/Gibson tandem, the better the O will be for it.

I do not think he is dumb. However he has had numerous opportunities to come up big in a clutch situation and has failed them all.
McCarthy tonight against the Bears was the exact opposite. He did not accumulate impressive passing statistics but rallied his team back from a double digit deficit in the fourth quarter.
Until I see some evidence that he can come up big in pressure situations, I will continue to have serious doubts about him as a franchise QB.

So, this team was an 8.5-win team on Saturday, as voted in our poll and in those of Vegas bettors.
==========
Our inexperienced quarterback, playing his first game in a new system, looked lost and we lose by a touchdown, allowing 20 points.
======
CONCLUSION
We are a hopeless team that needs 3-4 years to rebuild.

That is UTTER NONSENSE! I get it that many think that this is a 6 won team. That may be true. However, it is NOT much more true today that on Saturday. We don't know how long it will take for Maye, the OL and the Offense to become an NFL Offense.

The Defense is a top 10 Defense, maybe better.

Our receivers looked OK, especially Henry and Boutte and this with a terrible performance from Maye. Williams will get better, but we have 4 others who will perform, and one future prospect.

Our RB's are better than last year, and Stevenson should have fewer reps.

Our TE's are the same.

Our OL is much, much, much better than last year.

And we found this out in a poorly played game. Wait until the Offense and OL has had a chance to gel. The reason folks think that we might only win 6-8 games is because it might take half the season for the Offense to be anywhere near a decent Offense, with OK QB and OL play.

Just BTW, I thought that the OL played much better than I thought that they would. Campbell will take time but looked pretty good. Bradbury was very good. Moses had his hands full with Crosby but did OK. Onwenu was OK. The weak performer was Wilson. We're asking a lot of him. He really is a rookie center. What the OL needs is health and time (and yes, to trade for a veteran LG).

People are also forgetting as if Allen became a superstar year. Allen year two in 2019 was inconsistent and reckless as hell.
Yeah but it was just a question of can Allen limit the mistakes and not be boom or bust on every pass. But he showed signs that when the game matter the moment isn’t too big for him. Even during his first two year was able to close games at the end.

Maye is a bust in my opinion not because of his inaccuracy has a passer and his poor mechanics throwing the ball but because he doesn’t have ‘it’. When the moment gets bigger he crumbles. Like Mac Jones when he gets the ball with a chance to drive to take the game away or winning on last drive you know he won’t do and will with almost certainty throw a pick.
