Why don't starters play a full 3 quarters in the 3rd game? They don't get enough reps in live action during the preseason.

The vibe I got coming off Vrabel's post-game press conference was that this team is not ready for NFL football.

Think of this season as an extended pre-season.

That's the best way I've found to make it make sense.

The same thing occured with Bledsoe.

The first sign of trouble to come was trading Milton because he wanted Mayes job.
I didn't want to accept it in 1999. Gave him another pass in 2000 because the offense was stripped down. I didn't want him to lose his job in 2001 even though the team was winning with Brady. He initially proved me right in his first year in Buffalo where he had Moulds/Price at WR and Henry at RB, but then fell apart after that.

If folks want to watch a running team, they need to make a new choice; the patriots won't qualify. Y'all need to watch BALT or BUFF.

Dude Our 22 year old QB in his second year, first with a qualified staff, threw the football 46 times and didn't even crack 300yds.
Fixed it for you.

Yep and I hated during the dynasty years. Too many times we saw the running backs walking on eggshells. If they didn't get a good gain on one carry, Josh would abandon it and go 4-5 wide on the next play.

Then he'd lineup in goal line formation in the middle of the field and if the RB didn't convert, he'd be done for the day.
My aggravation with him is almost the opposite. He'll have a series where the runners are obviously gashing the D and then, instead of continuing to gash until the D shows they can stop it, it's like he throws away that play sheet and completely forgets the runs game - "That's nice but let's pass". He's a pass play designing geek. I don't think he understands, has the feel for the rhythm of, or has the patience for the run game.

Of course, it might help if he had a lead back who could distinguish a hole in the line from the OG's backside.

I don't see a fire in him at all.
I didn't want to say when I heard a couple weeks ago it for a few reasons: where it came from and it would've been met with pitch forks. It was said by someone in the media that they have the impression Maye comes across as an idiot.

this

With good run-blocking, Henderson could be a really, really good #1 RB. With good run-blocking, Stevenson may be an OK #2.
============
The team has an OK set of receivers, including a couple of RB's and a couple of TE's. This is a passing league and perhaps Maye can be a successful QB. I do NOT see Maye as the next top 5 QB. He just isn't likely to be as good as say Herbert. But top 10 is good enough to be competing for a Super Bowl if we have a top Defense.

Sure, a top NFL needs a solid running game, and we have two good RB's and we have an OK 3rd RB in Stevenson. We're even developing a FB.

No wonder why Ring6 likes him.

This may the "real" issue. Folks (including coaches) talk about his leadership abilities. I don't see it.

Vrabel will continue to build him a solid supporting cast, but that may not be enough. To be clear, given health and a bit of luck at LT and LG, we are good enough talentwise to compete for the playoffs this year (as we did in 2021). The Offense isn't ready; that is no surprise. IMO, if we can be 2-2, we will be in very good shape to compete. BUT ONLY IF Maye has fire in his belly.

How many ACC QBs have had any success in the NFL?

Drake Mayebe is 23 8/30/2002 piss me off.
So he's been 23 for a fekkin' week???

Seriously. We have zero idea if the kid is going to be any good at 23 fekkin' years old. I can promise you he's 100% not going to be Tom Brady 2.0, so how about you just pump the brakes and relax. He came into the league inexperienced with questionable fundamentals and his first year was maybe the worst coaching situation he could have fallen into. Maybe he's going to be ok. Maybe not. But week fekkin' one under a new regime and you want Tommy fekkin' Cutlets?

Give your balls a tug.

Anyone feeling confident about Drake Maye after Sunday?
sigh

Nothing has changed for me. After last year, Maye has aways to go to be a top 10 QB. I didn't expect to even begin to make assessments for this year's prospects until after the first four games. Until then, the bettors' odds are as good as any.

I'm anxious to see Jaxson Dart play.

He looks like a scrapper.

I though Davis played well other than that gaffe.
Me too. He was responsible for the INT that eventually netted us our only TD of the game. I blame Vrabel for that play mostly.

If it’s Gonzo and you want to leave him on an island, okay I can see that. But still.

From College you can see Dart has that "It" Factor. J Dart throws a sweet ball always in control. The Giants did their due diligence: When Dart gets' in there: only injury can take him out.
