You can’t give up 140 receiving yards to TEs and another 220 to a pedestrian WR group.
To not be concerned about this defense they should have shut down that passing game, not allowed consecutive scoring drives if 71, 52 and 66 yards in 3 of the 1st 4 drives of the second half.
I agree and that was the good news. The offense was far worse.

I have never understood the Elliss love. And we paid a big contract.
He led our entire defense in solo tackles, I don’t understand the Ellis hate.

The entire defense needs to play better, the backend especially needs to communicate better.

That 3rd and 20 play reminded me of the Cowboys loss a couple years back where a 3rd and 25 near-conversion got them into game tying FG range where we would go on to lose in OT.

Elliss can shoot gaps. Did you watch him at anything else?

So he should have had 1 more than his 2 catches for -2 yards and that’s good?
We are talking about Maye who $h!t the bed yesterday AJ. Do you see 9 wins if he plays the way he did yesterday with our current schedule?? I don't.

Really? Are you just making stuff up?
I mean it’s painfully obvious. His attitude scream of a guy that thinks his talent will compensate.

There is no improvement in his footwork or mechanics since last year. It even regressed. It doesn’t scream of guy that is very concerned about it.

How many of those were after he allowed his man to make the catch?

We didn't really try to run the ball.

Well or not, they didn't try. Henderson had 5 carries for 27 yards. And he only gets 5 carries? And you only run 14 times? What even was that?
Yep. We completely seemed to abandon the run in the second half and the offense dried up.

Agree. Ellis and Hawkins are practice squad level guys who start for us. Add in 1 catch in 41 snap Hollins and we have some glaring personnel issues to either fix or figure out how to compensate for.
Agree. The vaunted pass rush looked great for a quarter, but the four-man rush was underwhelming overall.

We knew that about barefoot Hollins: but I am sure you can't find his Supporters with a search warrant.

I am closer to this point of view than Drake is going to be good.

Zone defense is about communication and anticipation, I don’t expect perfection from anyone in week one.

Perhaps the raiders adjusted at the half.

In any case, if a team is making sure they stop your running game, then your receivers will be open, and they were. Yes, there is one more step required.

He didn’t sh:t the bed.
He was really good in the first half. In the second half we threw 26 times d ran 3. One was a scramble, one was a jet sweep and one was Gibson.

Maye handed the ball off to Stevenson or Henderson a combined ZERO times in the second half.

First half 14/20/150 with 6 completions to Boutte and Henry averaging 18 air yards while we ran 15 times.

Second half 3 runs. 16/26/137.

Don’t blame Maye he was put in a ridiculous situation by the play calling.

You tell me how you expect a qb to do when he throws 26 times and hands off to his RB once.

I see a ton of wins if they put him in the situations he was in during the first half.

That’s just stupid

You can’t live and die with the blitz.

I don’t want to say too much until I review the film, but my God, did we really bench White so Chaisson can treat an OT like a blocking sled and engage and try to push him all the way to the QB? It could be the first ever 2 gap run defense pass rush strategy I’ve ever seen.
