Trade away Dugger and Godchaux for nice picks, trade for Metcalf to get Maye a real WR1. Your offense would be good enough to produce points your defense would be pretty bad and you probably still lose. But you’d attract a good offensive HC who wouldn’t need to add TOO much to the offensive side, and can hire a quality DC and let the front office build up that side with free agents and picks.
You’d have to eat like 50M in dead cap to trade Dugger and Godchaux. That’d really limit what we can do in the off season.

Run D was horrible and pass D gave up too many 3rd and longs.

Maye showed determination and grit but he needs to learn from this. Throw the ball away and nothing kills like interceptions.

Rest of O other than Henry was not good. Also, cut the entire OL.
The defense played against an offense that stinks. Against a good team they would have allowed 40

Not sure where you get that number. Beyond the money already paid this year, I don’t think the dead cap hit in 2025 for trading both would even be $20M

Maye really has to cut that turnover rate down but I'm confident he can be the guy if he has an actual decent team around him. Which isn't this team.
Three turnovers are clearly too many. By my score card the first interception was a rookie mistake, the strip sack is more on Lowe than the QB and the final interception was more game situation than a bad play. The bigger concern for Maye's development is that he is indeed picking up bad habits because the OL is not good and he is the only weapon on offense. The rest of the offense needs to improve so that Maye learns to rely less on his own running.

If the complete the winning formula by canning Mayo and his staff in a few weeks then I can agree with you.
Could not agree more Ross

Double checked on Spoctrac, 18M for Dugger, 13M for Godchaux.

I cannot believe they burned a high second on Polk, and then added insult to injury by wasting their 4th on Baker, who is so dumb that he is limited to kick returns. Wolf needs to go.
So far Polk and Baker are busts ….hopefully that changes in time

Team played their SB last week against the Jets and trying to rally after being insulted by their coach. The run D was generally atrocious, showing last week was the outlier and not Jacksonville. We need a fattie to support Godchaux and an all-around LB.
bingo

why do we want a bad defense?

Not sure where Sportstrak gets their numbers from. Looking at overthecap, if Pats trade Dugger and Godchaux at 2024 deadline, Pats will have $13.5m and $6.7m dead cap hits for them, respectively, in 2025. Those numbers are only $10m higher than their hits if they were both on the team next year.

Patriots Wide Receivers drafted in the first 3 rounds in the past 20 years

2006 Chad Jackson
2009 Brandon Tate
2010 Taylor Price
2013 Aaron Dobson
2018 N’Keal Harry
2022 Tyquan Thornton
2024 Ja’Lynn Polk

Fire our WR scouts
Ugh….that is horrible

I would make these trades in a heartbeat….just depends on what you could get for them
