Draft position helps in the first round, not so much in second and later rounds if you pick bad players

Most of the other teams in the top 10-ish of the draft need QBs pretty bad and may start a bidding war for Ward or Sanders. So you’d only be trading down a few spots and probably picking up their next couple 1sts and also their 2nd in 2025 too which is a borderline 1st. You’d still be able to get a true WR1 with your new 1st rounder and could trade up with one of your high 2nds into the late 1st for a tackle. Then focus on defense with your other picks, and enjoy having two firsts the next couple years

QB's in this draft are lower than 2024 on average by quite a bit but there are some enticing guy's teams may overpay for.
So far, I only see 5 guys that could be good starters immediately, so staying in the top 5 is important IMO.
Luckily none of those 5 are QB's so if 2 go in the top 5 by desperate teams would set up well for us to capitalize.
2025 is looking like a very weak draft overall, I would love to snare a 2026 1st, as that draft looks much stronger.

Not sure why they kept going for bombs downfield, had plenty of time. But I don’t think it was a bad decision, just a bad throw. If he leads Boutte vertically, he has the corner completely beat and the safety doesn’t catch up, and it’s the game winning TD unless Boutte drops it. Instead the throw was short and horizontal.

I wouldn't call it short... he just threw it too late. QBs have to commit on these long balls.

Mac Jones in his first season faced 10 teams that ended up being .500 and above. Maye has faced mostly bad teams and lost to all of them.

You get a true #1 receiver and a top tackle, you are putting up a lot of points, and those teams are always in playoff contention. Offense wins.

Covington's completely out of his depth and Mayo looks like a fraud.

Maybe they need to learn on the job like the rookie QB. They’re all rooks.

However, I don’t trust the Foxboro process any more.
