Taylor, Pittman and Nelson.. Nelson and Taylor are definitely sure fire all pros at thier positions. Pittman is a good wr. Everything is predicated off the running game. The question will be when a team dedicates ls thier defense to stopping Taylor what happens then..
Do you honestly think teams aren't out there game planning to stop Taylor?

If you watched the Colts-Chargers game, the Chargers spent most of the first half trying desperately to contain Taylor. Jones responded by picking them apart in the middle distances using his receivers.

That's why that offense is so good. There's no easy way to contain them. Jones counters any effort to stack the box with quick accurate passes. Taylor counters any effort to block Jones by finding gaps in the middle. And if the receivers are having a bad day, there's still the one all-pro level player on offense that you DIDN'T mention, their elite rookie TE, Tyler Warren.

This Colts offense might be the most complete offense I've ever seen in my 2+ decades of watching the NFL. It is legitimately elite.

I'd be relatively confident running into either the Colts or the Chiefs, but the Colts worry me just that little bit more, because they are, in my opinion, more of a complete team. Especially on offfense, but their defense is nothing to sneeze at either.
If you look at the SB KC shut down the run.. what hurts did is beat them deep with throwing..now if say indy or a heavy run Team faced a battle tested KC chiefs the QB of said team will have to make plays when the running game is taken away. That's where having Mahomes, Reid and spaggs makes the difference IMO in a post season game.

2021 was JT best season 1800 plus yards. What happened in the playoffs. ? With a better QB in rivers.

I think we have to see it demonstrated that the running game CAN be taken away. Taylor's faced some legitimately good defenses and gashed them

Let me say this. You have your opinion and I have mine. Yes I'm looking at the body of work. Jones had one season where he showed potentially why he was drafted these are facts not my words.. he had nabers, Barkley.. during his time in NYG. He is reviving his career seemingly in indy.. they are playing well and the top seed in the AFC right now. All im saying is when teams get in the postseason it's a different beast.. for example we broke NFL records in 2007.. Brady was historically great. We saw Jax in the divisional round and squeezed by them
Then a hard fought game against LA in the AFCCG with rivers on an ACL.. we all know what happened in the superbowl..

Using that example of the difference of the regular season as opposed to the playoffs..
all I'm saying.

Using that example is wrong for two reasons.

1. By the time of the playoffs, the Pats' play had declined. Clearly, there were significant injuries, some of which were being concealed. So I don't think it shows anything about playoffs in general.

2. Patsfans don't talk to Patsfans about 2007.

Injuries with a 17 game season are paramount to a teams success. Look at Baltimore 2 seasons ago where Lamar didn't play and they lost to cincy.. Indy have a elite running game... the flip side is Taylor had this type of season before with accomplished playoff battle tested QB rivers.. Buffalo beat them in postseason remember?
yes that's true, but calling Phillip Rivers playoff tested is a bit of a double edged sword. Rivers failed that test a fair few times, or failed to even get that far, before he took his one last shot with Indy.

Barkley is the most recent example of this. Taylor is phenomenal and has done this before in 2021 as mentioned. The postseason season Buffalo shut it down..is all I'm saying. There are plenty of examples. Teams attack what you do best in a win or go home game. I mentioned that if it was indy vs NE. It's strength against strength.. indy is elite running the ball and even if a poster like @ rochcrist disagree the numbers don't lie. NE has an elite Run defense top 5.

Points well take there Mike.. your a smart poster you know playoffs are a different animal.

Thing about 2021 iis, the QB leading that charge was an old man in his last year. He needed to execute passes to get the defense to back off against the run, and he couldn't. Partially because the Bills D at the time was excellent, but partially also because he was an old man in his last year and he'd lost a step when it mattered most.

Jones is 28, that's not as likely to be an issue. We've already seen teams like the Chargers and Broncos try that same game plan against Indy this year and Jones held up his own end with some accurate passing that forced the opposing D to back off on the run and give Taylor room to operate.

I'm a little surprised that people are this skeptical about the Colts as a potential playoff matchup. They've been a QB away from being taken seriously for years. Now they have a QB who is filling that role to a satisfactory level, why are so many people surprised that it's working?

It's just the seeing is believing factor. Same with us.. we've been in the bowels of the NFL for a while so while it looks encouraging fans need and want to see more..

Amazing pass but the receiver being 6'4" tall helps a lot too. Very difficult pass to Diggs or Chism.
It's actually the height of the football impeccable touch and placement. Maye found the tight hole no pun in that zone. Not many QB's make that throw: and to your point Diggs or Boutte catches that: they have Elite hands. Chism or Pop no way.

With all due respect, the Colts have Daniel Jones and the Chiefs have Mahomes.

Flattery will get you everywhere ...

Seriously, I remember listening to one of Jools' lovely monologues in which he said that, in his opinion, it was all about going in to the playoffs (relatively) healthy.

You are positively correct. Healthy and availability is paramount to a teams post season success we've seen this through plenty of examples in sports over the years. As for us we cannot ill afford to lose any of our key players. As you've seen me post. I was eluding to when big boy ball starts in January teams hone in to take away whatever you do best offensively.. when the running game is taken away the QB needs to be... well the QB..

So the Colts have the guy who hasn't been depantsed repeatedly in the Superbowl.

Seriously who did Mahomes actually beat in the big game who wasn't Jimmy Garoppolo?

Maybe you missed the point. Maye has to throw the ball over the front defender and in front of the back defender. So the ball has to have an arc over the front defender and drops before the back defender. If the receiver is taller, less arc is required. Putting the arc on the ball is tough to do (Maye did it beautifully), so having less arc increases the odds of a successful pass. So for that type of pass, an arc over one defender that falls before a second defender, a taller receiver increases the chances of success by reducing the amount of arc required. Because Hollins is 6'4" he is an ideal receiver for that type of defense.

It really has little to do with the receivers hands, mostly to do with the receiver's height. Diggs can run a sideline route, but mostly in a man defense when he is outjumping a single defender.

In camp in 2022, if you remember, Patricia tried to teach Mac Jones to throw that ball to Davante Parker who was 6'3". Mac could not make that throw.
