I don't watch much TV. Why are all the ads pitched at intellectually challenged 8-year-olds? Are elementary kids buying cars and drinking beer these days?

I don't understand the boners for a 'Big WR1'.

They're throwing the ball just fine. Seems like a radio talk show hot take to me.
I am in your boat. Sure if we had a "Big WR 1" maybe they would get more open and get the same reception. LMAO

I for real don't get it.

I just finished a replay of the game a bit ago. Missed it due to a kid’s birthday party. My takeaways, briefly:

- Drake Maye really is just a freak huh? He gets better weekly. >90% completion pct plus 60 yards rushing is just absurd. The kid is clutch as hell on 3rd/4th down.
- Diggs reminding me of Edelman. He might have 4-5 years left in him playing that short/intermediate role, mostly in the slot but really plays every spot at times.
- Boutte might slowly be turning into a WR1…? Ridiculous hands, separating very well.
- Henderson looks way too tentative for a guy who should be killing with speed. Stevenson had a great game.
- Solid coverage while missing Hawkins again, Dugger did a decent job.
- Tavai seems to have solved the 2nd LB problem. The middle doesn’t look like as big of a weakness anymore. Mapu makes good plays when he sees the field.
- Edge still feels like a weakness. Would be a good priority role to fill via trade.
- My favorite part of the game was after the Marcus Jones INT. In the end zone celebration, Tonga faced the Titans fans and made a stinky face, then two thumbs down, then a crying face. Legend. (He also played damn well, too)

They seem to have plenty of free room, without the extra 30 million on the books from a guy who can't stop crying, yes.
The folks who want a new WR think that cap money is irrelevant, and that we can a top receiver for a useless draft pick.

Of course, if we traded a 3rd or 4th for a top WR and paid market price, they would whine about giving up the draft pick and whine that w paid too much.

Won’t really know until year two BUT it’s possible it just wasn’t a hit on that pick. Even if he busts, it’s still a good to great draft.
and perhaps it will take another year for him to develop to be a key 3rd down back.

Was a big fan of Maye at North Carolina, he was my #1 QB for the draft and I posted a lot of reasons why in the draft forum. Obviously the natural arm talent and scrambling ability was to die for. His shortcomings were well documented as being footwork and accuracy which made him a a very talented QB but with flaws so to speak. Never in my expectations did I predict to see him solve them this quick. It’s almost unfair to have a QB with prototypical size and arm strength develop pin point accuracy. 78% completion percentage is pretty insane. Starting to wonder if he can break Drew Brees’s single season record of 74% in just his second year?

We are so, so lucky that Vrabel was available. What was Ms. Amy thinking? And sadly, we are so lucky that Mayo was so bad that he didn’t even warrant a 2nd season, because there’s no way Vrabel wasn’t getting another HC job this past offseason.

And Drake emerging as the leader and as a star…. I’m feeling very fortunate and blessed to be a Pats fan.
AGAIN.

Giants collapsed. Up 19-0 and 26-8 (with 5 + minutes left), now down 30-26.
Giants shut Denver out for three quarters.
They scored a TD to retake the lead with with 37 seconds left. Then they missed the PAT. They led 32-30.
Denver had no timeouts, marched 56 yards, completed a pass to the 22 and spiked the ball with :03 remaining.
FG. Giants lose.

Epic.

Welp, huge choke by the NYG just turned into a huge choke by Den
but.....games not over yet.
Could we have 3 chokes in the last 2 mins?
Yes

Weirdly, I do think it will be a challenge for Vrabel to keep this team on track. We've gone from looking like "if we overachieve we'll get a WC spot" type of team to people talking Bye and it's only 7 games in.

Good problem to have, sure, but with a young team under a new coach without enough truly established leaders (imo) you gotta worry about peaking too soon.

It feels like if they win the games they _should_ win we'll be looking at like 11-12 wins which is insane coming so soon after last year.

One thing that I love is this sense that the high morale and buy-in is responsible for **** like Boutte's TD snag and Douglas' impression of Troy Brown against the Giants in the 90s. Winning begets confidence and that translates to some great moments.

I guarantee you under Vrabel those Boutte and Douglas plays are incompletions or worse.

Success and winning really is infectious. This team will be tested. We'll lose a game to a bad team or we'll have an injury that challenges depth, etc. How will this team respond? Have they built up enough belief in themselves, their teammates, the coaches and the system to continue to trust it all and continue to fight through and execute? I would love to see this team demonstrate it can get to that high confidence and next man up mindset of the dynasty years.

5-2 with a visit by Cleveland (who blew out Miami today) up next.
I think the Pats have as good a shot as any team this year. Patriots are BACK!

If the Patriots go on to establish another dynasty, I fear a mass exodus of football fans in despair. That means countermeasures by the NFL ala deflategate etc. Just saying.
