Maybe bill letting everyone go for two failed coaches wasn't such a good idea

You actually think the offense is going to improve from last season based on everything we’ve heard and thus far seen? Some serious wishful thinking there.
I don't judge by preseason.

2nd year for Henry, Jonnu, Algholor, Bourne, the addition of Devaunte Parker, Damine Harris and Stevenson have one more year under their belt.

I think they'll be better--don't know if the stats will be, depends on competition compared to last year.

Can we at least wait until we've played 1 regular season game to make these type of rash judgements?

Good article by Lazar regarding 8 takeaways from the Raiders game:

Thanks for that. A couple of comments -

— I agree with virtually everyone here, why is Tavai starting? McMillan has shown so much better when he’s been out there this preseason, both against the run and the pass. Keep Tavai for ST and backup LB at this point? Fine, begrudgingly. But he shouldn’t be starting, and I hope Lazar is right in thinking it won’t last long.

- on Mac, I did see improved zip on his intermediate throws and his throws looked more compact. That’s good and I know it was his major goal this offseason. But it won’t mean much if he keeps panicking under pressure. That’s what ultimately is the downfall of most failed QBs. He was fine in this regard last year, but hasn’t shown the same pocket presence in either game this year when the first read isn’t there. I wonder if the OL’s struggles in preseason have started to break him, ala David Carr? I hope not, but if so……. Something to monitor. They really need to fix this OL asap. Lazar’s stats have shown their traditional power blocking has still worked in the preseason; I think they need to minimize the zone blocking experiment at this point, as one way to minimize pass blocking concerns is to have far more 3rd and 2s instead of 3rd and 10s….

Some posters relish the chance to complain and question. It is their nature/personality. Stay positive Ash

- I agree, let's hope Tavai was playing as a last look and he is a surprise cut. Seems that he is a throw back to the older, slower, bigger LB approach - let's hope we are truly moving on from that including Tavai. McGrone played a lot of special team snaps - let's hope he sticks even though he needs more practice.

- Agreed. It appears as though Mac's movement in the pocket was scripted and restricted last year and he is free to roam this year and that is not working out well. Mac ran backwards into two sacks - amazing. I agree on the improved zip and more compact throw. What you did not mention was there were a couple of zippy, quick 5 yard passes which are ideal (high percentage) for "3rd and 3". Mac was panicking, IMO, which lead to a couple of sacks - he needs to step up in the pocket and if there is nothing there, throw the ball away. Let's hope Mac calms down, I think he will.

Your question is a good one. If we base it on what we've seen so far, this team's porked. But I think it's almost 100% certain that BB knows that too, and will make changes and adjustments accordingly.

The Patriots 1's were awful against the Raiders 2's and 3's... not a good sign obviously.

The offense in the general and the o-line most specifically are a mess right now. Let's see... Patricia and Patricia again. How long are IBWT crowd going to stand behind this move?

The defense stunk too, and we're sure to get more of that, so the offense had better figure something out quickly. Unfortunately my first point has me skeptical.

I didn't think it was eight...

oh. the other kind of takeaway.

Some Tyquan news:

Bummer. Tyquan, while you are out, call Randy Moss. You need alot of good advice from someone whos been there. Get Well Soon.

I don't put much stock into preseason. That said, most reports coming out of camp and then the games have been negative so it's hard to be optimistic. I kind felt like the team took a step back after the draft and free agency.

Hopefully they can gel together quickly and be more than the sum of their parts and Mac can take a next step soon. I kinda expected this to be a bit of another 2020 year that you sort of write off knowing they can make moves later.

I saw stidham staying in the pocket and delivering lasers in tight windows.. head scratching to see that .

Why didn't we see that stidham here . Or is it just because of preseason .

As for Mac, I honestly felt he looked worse than zappe in the games.

If we do not have the personnel for outside zone play let's try to minimize it. We are killing the confidence of our QB .

Both onwenu and T brown are probably not good fits for OZ as per lazar and the existing OL scheme seems to be working fine 4 runs for 28 yards compared to -1 for 4 attempts in OZ.

We can experiment with these concepts on games where we are winning handsomely or games where we are losing big time. Now for next two weeks get back to basics and get our QB and receivers and Offensive linemen in sync and in confidence.

If Wynn has attitude issue at RT , keep him as LT backup and operate with onwenu as RT and Sherman as right guard. Cajuste, Wynn could be the swing tackles /guard. Really doubt Brown will last the full season as LT , so we might need to go to Wynn /Cajuste at some point.

And can we have scar or popovich. Ome over for next 3-4 weeks to help out on OL.

I'll temper my opinion until the games start to count in the standings. 'Till then I reamain hopefully optimistic the team will be better.

Patricia running this offense is a complete embarrassment. Bad enough Bill has his two sons coaching on defense. Why would any player take them seriously…
