THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Lastly, we have never allowed promoting the use of any illegal streaming. This is illegal and will be enforced by copyright holders, which puts this site at risk. DO NOT POST ANY LINKS to those platforms.

This also means, there absolutely cannot be any mention these platforms, spaces, special characters, etc. - so do not get creative in trying to work around this request.

If you do you will have your account suspended.

I do not have the means to deal with legal issues and have already been contacted previously, so this absolutely needs to be adhered to. If you see any illegal links, please report them so a mod can remove them.

While OL play is by far my biggest concern right now, I do believe that the group is talented enough. It’s an execution issue. I think this group is plenty capable of being a good OL, but it’s going to require the unit being much more in sync and executing at a higher level. Hopefully these 2 weeks make a difference, but I fear that live reps are needed.

I don't get why the FO wanted to switch to a sean mcvay offense scheme, especially with a second year QB. What has sean mcvay ever won? He weant to the Super Bowl and got his azz kicked.
Switching up a scheme while literally reshuffling the entire offensive line except for the C position. Makes no sense

Should be amended to “in Bill we trust when TB12 is his qb, otherwise not so much”
I don't think "In Bill We trust" needs to change, but he's not perfect or beyond reproach. He's the HC and he should expect his moves to be questioned, especially here in a Pats forum.

Umm, what? He just won the Super Bowl back in February.

Hah. Yeah… good luck with that. You’ll get either “6 sUpEr bOwLz” as a response or you’ll the old “maybe you should root for [insert team here].” This the most mindless homer message board of any NFL team I’ve ever browsed.

“I think the OL needs to improve a lot in pass pro.”
“Maybe you should go root for the Bucs/The Bucs fans are trolling again.”

“Mac needs to see the Rover/Robber better.”
“6 Super Bowls lol.”

My worry is they don't have the talent on defense. I'm fine with the offense and think it will only improve and be better from the one that scored 27.2 points a game last year.

The defense though is woefully lacking in talent. Pass rush, run defense, LBs, CBs. I don't see it. We're good at safety and that is all.

I'm really much less worried about the offense.

AND--we've look vanilla and bad in previous preseason games over the years. Big worry for me is still the defense. Some huge gains through the air by the Raiders B team yesterday
You actually think the offense is going to improve from last season based on everything we’ve heard and thus far seen? Some serious wishful thinking there.

McVay won the SB last year.

You mean Shanahan?

Kyle Shanahan still runs it very well in SF for obvious reasons despite the rule changes. And I think you meant chop blocks not “crack back blocks”.
He also runs a west coast system that relies on misdirection, finesse and running his offense through his RB's. The Pats weren't and aren't switching to a West Coast offense... they simply wanted to run more outside zone blocking schemes because colleges do and they think it would be easier on their young players.

I think it's fine if the Pats want to run more zone blocking, especially in the two minute offense. But the only time they have looked good this preseason is when they ran their old gap system. It's time to go with what works.

Just to clear something up, an apologist is not someone who apologizes for something. It's someone who defends something, oddly enough. The phrase is basically "BB defenders" as opposed to those who mostly show up after performances like last night excited to talk s*** on BB and the current state of the team, but will disappear if and when things turn around in a positive direction.
This ^

It will be total radio silence from the Timmy brigade if they inevitably play well in the regular season... much like last year during the winning streak.

One thing I just don't understand is why we are trying to implement outside zone run blocking? We're already dealing with a lot of tweaks, a new OC with new verbiage and terminology.

Why toss that on top of all this? We had success in the run game last night when we went back to our traditional power stuff.

I may have missed something. I haven't been paying much attention this preseason.
Shhh. “In Bill We Trust”. Just shut up and have faith that everything they are doing is correct.

It's a post-game day thread after a horrible game. You expect fans to throw bouquets at them? And when did being critical of the HC of a football team become a crime? It's as part of the game as being critical of players, or should be.
I expect criticism. I was at the game criticizing the **** out of them. I just don't take it seriously from the anti-fans of this board who will actually root for the organization on the day they fire BB and bring back Brady for one last ball washing tour.

As far as I can tell, an "apologist" in this context is considered "anyone who thinks Bill Belichick will find any success in the future." I am not sure how that is tied to an apology.
An apologist is not one who apologizes, he is one who, by definition, is defending a position, Nothing to apologize for.

People truly haven't thought this part of the process was going to happen?

Facts:
- We are betting on "Growth"

- Changing the phylosophy on BOTH sides of the ball (Ive never seen people here even remotely talk about how much of change that must be in internal process, just out of the top of my head like scouting, value different KPIs... anyway, too big of a discussion for here)

- We have the smallest Coaching staff in the league
- EVERYONE comes deep from the BB lineage/Pats System. Below is a recap:
- 5 out of 9 Off. Coaches have no NFL experience pior to the Pats. Three came from the Lions (No prior experience in the NFL before). And then Joe Judge.
- On defense, NONE of the coaches have prior NFL experience outside the Pats. Also, we have 6 official coaches on defense
- 2 Bill Bellichick Children are in there

- ONE semi-consensus* premium player in the WHOLE ROSTER: Matt Judon

And these are the things that I think no one can really disagree with (*yes, yes, Barmore, Dugger, Henry, etc are all good, but looking at the NFL as whole, NOW, they aren't in that Elite club with 90% absolute certainty interval - yes, this was joke).

And I am not going to put a definitive conclusion for this bc we are going through a fluid process of course. But these are all facts (Unless my research is wrong somewhere, which I apologize)

After all that, it's not now that my opinion will change. I still think this Season is going to be a big surprise. Again, I'll keep hoping it's a good one. But yeah, this part right here? Expected

Shanny's system works because he has the personnel to execute his schemes.. we don't. His linemen are fast and light, fast enough to get to their second level blocks without allowing LB penetration.

Our linemen are big and heavy, and that is perfect for power blocking.. not sure why we're going away from what works for us. One of the more baffling developments of the preseason.

Especially by someone like you who is all but hurt about Brady leaving!

Also nice to see all the Patriots/BB apologists out in force as well.

As is true of the poor, and of Patriots haters, Patriots apologists will always be with us.
