His 40 time is 5.30 he'll get to the finish line four years from now he's slow.
40 times mean nothing for O-linemen.

His 10 yard time is 1.85.. While slower than Andrews 1.71, Hudson's Short Shuttle (4.53) and 3cone (7.56) are better than Andrews (4.78 & 8.12).

Technique can make up for many short-comings.. We've seen that with Koppen and Andrews.

we have many other holes. We have 50 million unspent.
We aren’t winning with this roster plus a wr and a lt.
We aren’t the 49ers minus Aiyuk and Williams.

I really don’t understand why fans act like it’s bizarre to ask Robert Kraft to spend as much as the other teams in the league do.
Ive already said I agree the 50 mil was a wasted opportunity. This thread is a practice squad tracker unless you want to spend that 50 mil on the practice squad I'm not sure what else you are trying to accomplish here.

Thoroughly picking from the scraps that other teams didn’t sign? You realize they can release someone at any time they find someone they want more, right?
These 16 players would seem to benefit a lot from getting in as many practices as possible especially if they are coming from outside.
I do realize they could pick up and drop as many times as they want, but the fact that they didn't try to fill it real quick makes me think they are actually looking for pieces that may help eventually. If you are on the practice squad, I guarantee you that missing a couple of practices isn't going to make or break them.

Do you take any consideration into the possibility that they are inexperienced and that is why they are struggling with such things?

If there is a guy out there that they want to leave a spot open for because he’s so important wouldn’t another team already have signed him?
Waiting until everyone gets signed by other teams isn’t a good strategy.

And what could possibly cause them to not be able to get players they want signed yet?
You really have an excuse for everything. Are you Elliot wolf’s mother?

While you are correct, I would note that players have choices with regard to which Practice Squad to sign onto.

BTW, I think that we have filled all the veteran PS spots but one.

They mean nothing until they have to be called upon to fill in during a game..
I think the center signing is worth noting... Leverett is the only backup center right now, and he's not very good at snapping the ball. Once Hudson gets comfortable I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a permanent member of the 53, and if he keeps doing a good job he could become the future starting center? There isn't really an "heir apparent" to David Andrews. There's only Jake Andrews but he has not shown a ton yet.

Leverett, Jordan and Fornadel all took turns snapping during games in the pre-season. As did Mafi.

Clearly the Pats felt they needed someone else since Jake Andrews is missing the entire year.

Hudson's profile is at least interesting. Fits a zone blocking scheme and even has experience with it

Athleticism / agility numbers are pretty good for an interior O-lineman—a 7.56 3-cone, 4.5 shuttle, 10 yard time 1.85, 9-foot-5 broad jump.

  • In the run game, Hudson comes off the snap quickly and is excellent with hand placement. Hudson understands angles, and he displays impressive footwork in moving to the second level, usually getting in position to deliver blocks.

  • A stout, powerful interior blocker whose game is built on toughness and power, displays impressive movement skills as well.

  • Effective grappling in the phone booth, with the upper-body strength and strong hands to outbattle defenders. Hudson also shows a good understanding of angles when moving out to the second level.
Imho, 20 Shuttle is the most important speed measure, and it's excellent at 4.53. The 3cone (7.46) is damn good for an OL.

I expect that we will draft a center next year. But, yes, Hudson is a welcome addition.

However, why is that an UDFA that was waived by everyone has much potential to be a starter? We need him now, and he will compete with Jake and others next season.

Probably not a starter today or tomorrow, but in time. I read that Hudson turned down other PS offers to be here, so I would guess he might also think there's a future pathway here.

Two notes here - Bolden should also be added very shortly, and I think Russell might not count due to being an international pathways player.

Nice little crop here. Good mix of developmental prospects and valuable pieces that have good reason to be called up.

I agree.

There is an immediate roster spot for a backup center, so we are certainly a place where a center would want to come. He made a good decision. It won't take much for him to push his way onto the 53. I'm somewhat surprised that we didn't claim him.

I believe Hudson is a center Cousin?
