Yep, I'm afraid that Ty your Monty down is making the 53... Not because he's, like, good or anything; but because there's no competition.

News Flash: LJ Humphrey is now our #5 WR, if not our #4 depending on Bourne's continuing saga...

Thanksdad still sucks... Strange69 is still nowhere near worth the #29 overall pick... Hambone has definitely added weight; no way is he merely scraping 3 bills now, probably closer to 313... He's still a waist-bender & reacher in pass protection, and was constantly fooled by stunts...

Jalopy Tavai ****ing sucks, period... Bill's lost all objectivity regarding some of his pets whom he "likes"...

I still prefer Jonathan Jones in the slot; but if it's between him & Terry Mitchell for the other boundary spot... And Shaun Wade needs to make this team.
I think Ty made plays last night and has had a really good camp. Made a huge 3rd down catch last night on the 3rd possession. He will be fine and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I was very impressed with Humphrey last night...very impressed.

I've spoken about Tavai before and we're in agreement about him.

I think at cb, we know J Jones is good, the question becomes is Marcus Jones better in the slot than Terrance Mitchel on the outside.

Great push up the middle by Ray, I think he makes the team, but that D-line competition is getting very, very interesting....Anderson, Davis, Ray, Roberts, Guy, Pharms.

Pharms?!? C'mon now...

And before Bob tells the construction crew at Gillette to start making room for #7, these were the Carolina Panthers' backups for most of the night... and their starters on offense without the two QBs weren't that good either...

Yeah I think this is the question they have to be asking themselves too, thus the long look for Jonathan on the outside relative to his overall status on the team...

Carolina did play O-Line starters last night though, they just sat their number 1 skilled position players. Their rookie starting let tackle played well into the 2nd half.

Our d-line rush was impressive. Jennings has really improved. Even you must be happy with his progress and how about Ray and Roberts....showing some promise...and what a sack by Uche!!!

Strange is fine. Saw some story on a tackle who was the sixth pick in the draft who still can't nail down a starting job.

I am, though he still should've had that first sack in the EZ... Can't afford to allow real NFL QBs to escape like that...

Think about a few things. Humphrey was sitting at home when we signed him in June. Why? Because he is very slow. Really tall and has great hands, but very slow. So last night LJH looked good against 1) backups, 2) almost exclusively zone coverage, and 3) with a QB (Zappe) that can barely throw a pass to the sidelines (did you notice Zappe's pick 6???? ;)). When does a slow WR excel? In zone coverage. When does a slow WR fail? In man coverage. Fans thought N'Keal had little separation - wait until you see LJH trying to separate in man coverage . And Zappe excels at throwing the ball in the middle of the field. So against backups in zone coverage with a QB that throws in the middle of the field, LJH looked good. I agree. This is the definition of a "pre-season superstar".

I think a lot of us are more encouraged by that special teams play he made.

Defensive coordinators winning SBs are not “riding coattails”.

You are just a jerk who likes to trash other people who are successful.
Tell me, what professional successes do you have that compare to the accomplishments of Matt Patricia, riding not only to the top of his industry, but winning. Or are YOU just an epic disaster?

I definitely have the same thoughts, but not to sound like a broken record, I'm starting to see the value in the 10yd time. His 1.65 (Combine) is far from impressive, but it's only .01 slower than Davante Adams and .03 than Kupp. Take a look at his big reception over the middle. Notice that up to 7/8yds from when they start running (note the offset), he and Nixon (1.57 10yd) have covered pretty much the same distance (actually, I think LJH gained almost half a yard on him). He's like a poor man's Jakobi (and a rich man's N'Keal at this point). That play as a gunner fighting through 2 blockers got him into the conversation for a roster spot.

I don't hate him. He is a good player. Thanks for the video - that was great. A common criticism of N'Keal is that he could not create separation against man coverage - LJH can't either. He might be great, due to his height, in zone coverage, but I have a hard time seeing us keeping a player that can only play in the middle against zone defenses. Nixon was running a different route and everyone, Carolina and Nixon, knew that it was highly unlikely that Zappe was going to throw a deep out on the sideline (Zappe has to work on that throw - see his Pick 6 - Carolina had already jumped the route and was waiting on the ball because it was so slow getting there). Nixon made his cut based on his coverage, as did LJH, not based on their relative speed. Watch it again.

We redid our whole defense because it was too slow. Now Patsfans' posters are advocating to add a WR much slower than N'Keal? Really? I am shocked.
