At this point I'm starting to think Bill might use Wilkerson's head injury as a reason to keep him on IR. He'll carry Wilk on the 53 as an extra WR then IR him and re-sign a player at another position to fill the final roster spot. Something like:

Parker - Agholor - Meyers - Thornton - Humphrey - Wilkerson
Bourne traded
IR Wilkerson after waivers clear

Then you can carry 5 WRs and have Wilkerson available after a few weeks if you sustain an injury to your WR group. Also probably try to get Nixon to the PS.
Why would you do this for your 8th best WR?

I wanted Mac to methodically march down the field and score in one series… that didn’t happen. I’ll be more comfortable with the offense once that happens.

Do we know the timetable? Ian was extremely vague in his tweet.

Him saying "based on timetable the injury isn't season ending" isn't vague to me The season starts in 3 weeks if he was gonna potentially be back it would be "hopeful they can have him for the start of the season". So I'd say that even rules him out for the first few games. But the "it's not season ending" just to me says at least a good chunk which would be a 1/3 or 1/2 the season.

Bill said last night that he expects every player except Wilkerson to be available next week, so these two things don't add up.

I have to tell you, it'd be one of the funnier things in my time as a Patriots fan if Fat Matt ended up being a really good OC.
Why would it be funny?
He is a very intelligent guy, an excellent football coach, has learned everything from Belichick, has a tremendous relationship with BB and is very respective.
I’d be shocked if he wasn’t great at this.

Because it’s never been done before in NFL history.

Great push up the middle by Ray, I think he makes the team, but that D-line competition is getting very, very interesting....Anderson, Davis, Ray, Roberts, Guy, Pharms.

I'm not sure what you mean or if this is possible.

Injury settlement generally means the player and team are splitting.

Maybe there's something I'm not aware of. Things have changed since covid. Please explain.
He would be released, but could come back after an agreed upon number of weeks based on the severity of the injury.

Thornton out for probably half the season

You got me all depressed - when all we actually know is "okay rook, could be a week, could be eight, we're stashing you until somebody gets knocked out or sucks hard."

& I love me some Strange too. There is no double entendre in that sentence.

(but combo blocks should be happening a lot with the zone scheme from what little I understand.)

Great read by by Barth-7 takeaways from last nights game:

Yep, I'm afraid that Ty your Monty down is making the 53... Not because he's, like, good or anything; but because there's no competition.

News Flash: LJ Humphrey is now our #5 WR, if not our #4 depending on Bourne's continuing saga...

Thanksdad still sucks... Strange69 is still nowhere near worth the #29 overall pick... Hambone has definitely added weight; no way is he merely scraping 3 bills now, probably closer to 313... He's still a waist-bender & reacher in pass protection, and was constantly fooled by stunts...

Jalopy Tavai ****ing sucks, period... Bill's lost all objectivity regarding some of his pets whom he "likes"...

I still prefer Jonathan Jones in the slot; but if it's between him & Terry Mitchell for the other boundary spot... And Shaun Wade needs to make this team.
