LOL!!! Who made you the referee of debate? I lost? At what?... rendering an OPINION on a subject? He wasn't there, for no apparent good reason, which to this point was to possibly attend a family vacation... that's not an acceptable excuse for bagging out on your team in the middle of training camp (in my opinion). Where am I wrong there? You don't seem to get it. Your constant posting on the matter makes all your posts irrelevant. You make good posts in lots of threads but your fixation on issues makes people dismiss you. You keep arguing on this matter, and you won't stop. You lost. It doesn't matter much that he had to leave. It doesn't matter. Most of us prefer he was there and many have posted such fact. You just keep beating the horse like you've done in many other threads. You care more about arguing than about the subjects you discuss.
No they didn't. Stroud said "it's not a vacation" but then he went on to say Brady was with his family, it was planned, and it was known about before training camp started. That's sounds a lot like a family vacation. Stroud then went on to say "I think we'll find out the reason here"... meaning he doesn't really know what happened. Cowherd merely reported what Stroud said here and commented that he thinks Stroud is a reliable reporter. Bottom line is there hasn't been confirmation of exactly why Brady was absent from training camp. The most common speculation has been it was a family vacation. If we find out something like his wife had surgery and he needed to be there for his family then that's totally understandable.Cowherd and Stroud have both declared it wasn't a vacation that caused the absence.
You're saying it didn't matter whether or not Brady was there because several other players were also out with injuries. So why didn't the Bucs just shutdown training camp for two weeks and cancel the preseason games? Because a lot more players were there than out with injuries and they're trying to get ready for the season. That preparation for the season is a lot more productive when your quarterback and team leader is present. Absent a personal or family health concern, Brady should have been there.Again, here's the situation with the team's WR1-WR4, and likely early season TE1-TE2.
Jones was out injured
Gage was/is out injured
Goodwin was/is working back from ACL surgery
Evans was out injured
Brady's been working with Brate since his arrival, leaving only
Rudolph as the guy for whom the "detriment" issue would even apply.
Finally, at RB, Brady's had plenty of time with Fournette and Vaughan, Bernard's been injured, and the only one left for the purposes of this theoretical detriment is the rookie.
Was it preferable for Brady to be there? The answer is yes, you agree, despite all your attempts to minimize his absence. We can only speculate on the impact of his absence, we'll never have a definite answer to that. If they suck to start the season then perhaps his absence was a factor. Or maybe the schedule is really difficult to start and they just get outplayed by good teams. If they start 4-0 then it will be a great start and no one will remember the absence but it still could have set things back during camp and they just overcame it. Who knows? So, the only reason that would be an issue is if someone were to say that it's not preferable to have your leader present. And here you've acknowledged that nobody would prefer that. So, you're just building strawmen to kill, and then pouting when I don't play the game.
I suggest that you follow the first rule of holes.
If one of the privileges is time off for a family vacation in August then I don't like that at all. I thought veteran perks were a day or two off here and there. When I think of privileges that Brady would have earned I think of personnel and playbook input... basically this part-time GM and OC gig he's got in Tampa Bay. Again, unless we're talking about a veteran day off here and there, I would think his privileges allow him to do more with the team not less.Apparently you care more about what he is doing off the field. Brady is not EVERY OTHER NFL player. He is the greatest player to ever lived. When you have 23 years in the league and you are in the SB every 2 years. That gives you privileges. Like it or not.
I'm not pissed about it. But we wouldn't know if anyone in the Bucs organization is pissed because they're not going to admit that publicly. Everyone will just follow the script. Brady once said 90% of what he says publicly is bullsh*t... I'd say that's true for most players. What we're not going to hear is your theory on why Brady was absent from camp... Gisele threatened him with divorce!Yeah, I am sure the Bucs and all the players are so pissed that they have a shot at winning the SB again instead of having a losing season whit Blaine Gabbert.
The absence, we are not even sure it was a vacation, was planned before training camp and everyone in the building knew about it. No one in the team is pissed. Just you.
I will stop arguing with you because it’s like trying to argue with a 3 year old. It’s impossible.
You talking about Gabbert and Trask? They would go 6-11 with either one of those guys... the 11 days isn't going to change that. The haters are simply trying to find another lame excuse to hate on Brady. There is zero evidence whatsoever that any player resents anything he did regarding his vacation. The only statements we have seen were statements of support.
The irony is that despite their whining, it no doubt made the team stronger by giving much needed practice (and preseason) reps to the 2 guys who desperately need it.
If Brady goes down for the season, the season is over for Tampa. But if Brady goes down for, say, 4 to 8 weeks, you want a backup QB who is prepared to go out there and win 2 to 4 games. You talking about Gabbert and Trask? They would go 6-11 with either one of those guys... the 11 days isn't going to change that.
Bullsh*t. There are always players willing to anonymously criticize teammates when they are mad about something, and yet nary a peep of discontent has come from anyone in Tampa-St. Pete.Your hater theory doesn't work here because I'm lightyears away from being a Brady hater. And the statements of support are no duh... there isn't one player on that roster that would step out of line to publicly criticize Brady.
Tom Brady will jump right back into the action after his training camp absence.
Head coach Todd Bowles said on Thursday, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, that Brady will start Saturday’s preseason finale against the Colts.
In fact, Bowles noted that every Bucs player who is healthy will be on the field.
You're saying it didn't matter whether or not Brady was there because several other players were also out with injuries. Wonder how long he will play
Wonder how long he will play
The final preseason game under the new format is the same week the media loved to call the "dress rehearsal".... so anything up to a half wouldn't surprise me, though if I had to guess, I would predict 2 or 3 drives....Wonder how long he will play
The Bucs didn't plan an extended absence for Brady so the backup quarterbacks could get some extra reps. So their extra reps happened under unusual circumstances. And I'd much rather Brady get in his normal amount of training camp reps, especially considering the reconfigured offensive line that he's dealing with.If Brady goes down for the season, the season is over for Tampa. But if Brady goes down for, say, 4 to 8 weeks, you want a backup QB who is prepared to go out there and win 2 to 4 games.
You're a fool if you don't acknowledge that getting those backups QBs more and more reps in training camp and preseason games is very valuable to that end (even though it involves something the team ultimately doesn't want to happen).
Brady's been in the league for 22 years... are you aware of any teammate ever anonymously criticizing him? Nary a peep for 22 years. You think one of his current teammates wants to be the first teammate ever to provide an anonymous criticism?Bullsh*t. There are always players willing to anonymously criticize teammates when they are mad about something, and yet nary a peep of discontent has come from anyone in Tampa-St. Pete.
You are just desperately flailing away at anything since there is zero evidence whatsoever to support your contention.
Hahaha yes I'm ashamed to hold the opinion that a professional athlete - the most crucial player on the team - should put his professional responsibility ahead of a timeout with the family in the middle of training camp. Absent a family emergency relating to someone's health, he should have been there. If he took the time off for the Masked Singer, or a trip to the Bahamas, or some other trivial event, then it was a douchebag move.No. I'm saying that your arguments are embarrassing, and that you should feel shame. I was just trying to do it at least semi-politely. I'm done with that now, though. If you want to continue to post stupid ****, that's fine. But I won't be wasting my time with you in this thread any longer.
So let's get this straight. You repeatedly state we don't know his reason but decide to take the position that it's for something superfluous?LOL!!! Maybe Brady could shed some light on the subject, that's if he ever talks to the media again. Hasn't answered a question since the Miami story broke... this also is a bad look. And if 22 years of interviews tells us anything then he won't exactly add clarity to the situation.
No they didn't. Stroud said "it's not a vacation" but then he went on to say Brady was with his family, it was planned, and it was known about before training camp started. The real issue is why was he absent? If we get confirmation then we can pass judgment on that. Until then we're speculating and the most plausible explanation I've seen to date is a family vacation. In which case I'm being critical of that. He'll get a pass if we find out it was related to a family health issue.
If one of the privileges is time off for a family vacation in August then I don't like that at all. I thought veteran perks were a day or two off here and there. When I think of privileges that Brady would have earned I think of personnel and playbook input... basically this part-time GM and OC gig he's got in Tampa Bay. And the fact that Brady gives the team an excellent shot at winning the SB isn't the issue here. It's a non sequitur.
You talking about Gabbert and Trask? They would go 6-11 with either one of those guys... the 11 days isn't going to change that.
Your hater theory doesn't work here because I'm lightyears away from being a Brady hater. And the statements of support are no duh... there isn't one player on that roster that would step out of line to publicly criticize Brady.
On The Tom Brady Forum perhaps no one is agreeing with me but Brady is taking some criticism for his absence elsewhere. I'm not necessarily trying to get anyone here to agree with me either... so I'm not making some "argument" to convince you of anything. And I said a million times IF his absence was for any number of trivial reasons then he deserves to to criticized for it in my opinion. If there's a justifiable explanation then that's fine and all the speculation can come to an end. Is he going to address the media anytime soon? I'm sure he'll get a few questions on the subject. If he says something along the lines of I was away from the team to attend to a personal family matter then that doesn't sound like a trivial reason and he'll deserve the benefit of doubt and the respect of privacy. So let's get this straight. You repeatedly state we don't know his reason but decide to take the position that it's for something superfluous?
All initial comments from his teammates were those of support.
So yes you have failed your argument because no one is agreeing with you.
That's true, but them getting extended reps is a definite benefit of his extended absence. Furthermore, he wouldn't have been playing in either of the first 2 preseason games (he probably wouldn't have even been on the sidelines), and he wouldn't have been getting as many reps as he would during a normal in-season practice.... so what exactly has the QB with 20+ years experience missed that has you so upset here? The Bucs didn't plan an extended absence for Brady so the backup quarterbacks could get some extra reps.
Do you know how silly you sound?? You are literally trying to tell us "No teammate has criticized Tom Brady in 20+ years, so that means they really hate what he did!!" The notion that they don't criticize him because he is tremendously popular with his teammates just doesn't cross your mind, does it?Brady's been in the league for 22 years... are you aware of any teammate ever anonymously criticizing him? Nary a peep for 22 years. You think one of his current teammates wants to be the first teammate ever to provide an anonymous criticism?
If it's the Masked Singer I'll be in the criticize crowd. On The Tom Brady Forum perhaps no one is agreeing with me but Brady is taking some criticism for his absence elsewhere. I never said I was upset or mad or pissed off about it. I merely said he shouldn't take off in the middle of training camp for a family vacation. That he probably only missed the equivalent of 3 practices isn't the point.
************. What's silly is that you think I said his Bucs teammates hate what he did because he hasn't been publicly criticized by teammates ever. That doesn't even make any sense. I agree he's tremendously popular with his teammates, past and present, and he's probably the most respected player in the history of the NFL. That doesn't mean they can't look down on taking a vacation during training camp (and keep quiet about it).Do you know how silly you sound?? You are literally trying to tell us "No teammate has criticized Tom Brady in 20+ years, so that means they really hate what he did!!" Get back to us when you have an ounce of evidence to support your fantasies.
It didn't just "pop up" because the Bucs management and Brady reportedly discussed it before training camp started. If it's the Masked Singer I'll be in the criticize crowd.
If it's a vacation that he told the Bucs about before unretiring and they said he could have more personal days so he can play, then I give him a pass.
If he decided while in camp that he was taking a vacation without notice and that the Bucs can shove it then I'd criticize him.
If he had a family thing pop up, like serious illness or mental health thing with the wife or kid, then again I give a pass because family should always be the priority over work
No no no... tell us all again how "Tom Brady hasn't been criticized by any of his teammates in 22 years, so they are all secretly really mad at him!!" Seriously I want to hear that part once more....************. What's silly is that you think I said his Bucs teammates hate what he did because he hasn't been publicly criticized by teammates ever. Refer to your own post from today at 2:28 PM... it's the only place it was actually stated. No no no... tell us all again how "Tom Brady hasn't been criticized by any of his teammates in 22 years, so they are all secretly really mad at him!!" Seriously I want to hear that part once more....
#Bucs have waived WR Cyril Grayson to make room for new LB Genard Avery. We reported in today’s @TBTimes_Sports that some guys who have made clutch catches for this franchise might not make the team.
Bucs have waived-injured receiver Cyril Grayson to make room for new OLB Genard Avery. First key departure in the backup receiver battle ...
Cyril Grayson had three big catches last year -- touchdown vs. Saints, game-winner vs. Jets and a big catch vs. Panthers, but just got caught up in talented depth Bucs have. Could easily make it back on practice squad once he's healthy.
