Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Why do you care? He's not on our team. The Bucs are in another division. Jesus. Brady took some time off. He's spent half his life away from his family. Dr. Phil would call that neglect. How many players have sat out preseason and even games in a season for just more money? One of you haters theory is he hurt the team. There's no guarantee, he's 45 but I submit that even if some chemistry is suffered because of the time off, the team is still better off with Brady than with Gabbert. We get it, Brady is the devil.
I don't see it as a big deal either, but I do see why it became an issue. Brady is known not to miss any practices at all and he's always said "you have to be all in" to play NFL football and so far he hasn't displayed that "all in" attitude.

I'd call myself a skeptic rather than a hater, but, whatever.

He's not the devil, but he's also not the angel / hero he and his media team makes him out to be.

If you want to go to whataboutism, I can find a lot of other people who have to spend even more time away from their families, suffer as much physical pain or more, and get nothing in comparison for rewards.

The idea that he couldn't arrange his schedule so he could be at work with his team is pretty absurd, IMO.

If you don't think there's at least some resentment about that in the building, nor that he won't get any backlash for it in the future, you are being extremely optimistic, IMO.

I think this will be known as Tom's two week notice season. He already has his next job lined up. He'll play at a good enough level so he doesn't get crushed in the media, but he's already talking about how motivation fades as you get older. There will be lots of Angry Tom on the sidelines blaming teammates. There are already people making excuses for him here ("look, he's 45, ain't it amazing he's playing at all?"). I think he just wants to get through this season without damaging his reputation too much, get another summer off, and take his cushy job at Fox.

The Pats made a huge mistake choosing Belichick over Brady. Lmfao that anyone should care one bit that the Bucs chose Brady over Bruce freaking Arians.

If Belichick had been fired after Super Bowl 52, Bill O’Brian would have come back as coach, and Nick Caserio would probably still be here as a real GM. And there’s a good chance that the machine is still chugging along with Brady as QB.

I'm fine with him taking sone time off with his family. He doesn't have to apologize because others might have been away from their families more and not taken time off. Whataboutism from me is only used for perspective. Its valid. The outrage and sanctimonious rhetoric is telling. Even his job at Fox is some kind insult to "skeptics" perhaps he should be digging ditches?

Well at least the Masked Singer wasn't the reason he was away.

Firing BB would have been a mistake on its own IMO. And I believe Tom would have felt the same. BB-->OBrien isn't an upgrade.

But that decision still stains Bill's legacy no doubt about it.

Where did you come up with that silly ditch-digging analogy?

A better analogy would be suppose BB said he was retiring at the end of last season, un-retired, tried to blow off his contract with NE by negotiating with MIA, and ended up signing a deal to do media next season for FOX. Would it be "sanctimonious" to suggest perhaps BB's motivation was not what it used to be?

We know Smith, Goedeke, Hainsey, Mason and Wirfs are in. Would seem Leverett and Wells are safe bets. With no additions, Brandon Walton or Fred Johnson would be eight. (Jensen on briefly, then on IR)

While I have your attention: Cyril Grayson, Zyon McCollum, Gio Bernard all still not practicing today.

Bucs safety Keanu Neal is going through warmups with the team, so he could be back practicing after missing Saturday with an arm injury.

Uplifting sign of the day, Part II: Mike Evans re-emerges from locker room in jersey and helmet. He hasn’t practiced in a while (hammy)

Looks like WR Breshad Perriman, sidelined most of the preseason, is suited up today.

Also worth mentioning that there are no new offensive linemen at Bucs practice today. They had 36 hours or so to sign a vet and haven’t. Doesn’t say they won’t, but worth noting.

We're a good distance from the far side of the field where the QBs are, but Brady seemed very much back to normal today. If anything, took more reps than usual to get back into the rhythm of practice. Other than that, you wouldn't know he'd been gone, watching him today.

One last move for Bucs to get to 80 players a day ahead of the NFL roster cutdown -- tight end Bug Howard, who had joined the team at the start of training camp, has been waived. So Howard, S Troy Warner and WR Vyncint Smith cut, and Stinnie and Gill go on injured reserve.

Two encouraging steps for Bucs receivers today, with Mike Evans returning from his hamstring injury and Chris Godwin getting his first work in 11-on-11 in a black non-contact jersey.

Bills traded up two spots ahead of the Bucs to grab Cody Ford in the second round of the 2019 draft and celebrated the move in their war room. Three years later, they move on for a fifth-round pick.
