Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

As long as Tom Brady is playing, it’s a zero sum situation. Super Bowl. That’s it. Brady has a big say in which QBs he wants in the room. Gabbert has a role each week. If they needed him for a game or two, he would be more prepared than Kyle Trask. Pretty simple.

That article is why the narrative that Brady likes to run the offense w/o influence from the HC is bs. Arians had less involvement in the day to day offense prep than Bowles will. Maybe Brady craves involvement by the HC after dealing w/ BB for so long.

Edited to remove misinformed information lol.

I can't imagine any owner wanting to give or sell a part of their team to a player, even if it is the GOAT.

That just sets a dangerous precedent, plus would be tricky to navigate salary cap rules.

Plus the rest of the NFL would have to approve such a move.

Then again, maybe the Dolphins and Brady were going to do that, but the rest of the league said no and rejected it
So what does that make Brady? A POS?

Uhhh, didn’t Brown lose his sh*t when Arians tried to put him in the game, not pull him?
I think the problem came when AB told BA that he was hurt and BA told AB to get lost, which he did, dramatically and in living color.

That was fascinating. I had no idea about Bowles coaching tree.
If you want to get technical, Bowles is one branch of the Ray Perkins tree.

It's no sure thing that Gronk will be back.

He recently hosted the Nickelodeon award and has become a much better entertainer. If it's about money, he might be able to make just about as much money from all his gigs then from playing football.

Is there a betting line on Gronk coming back?

Tampa really going all in with these salaries. If Brady wanted Rodgers' salary, they'd have to subtract Gage, Mason, and fournette.

On the other hand, Pats salaries tells me they are still rebuilding this year. Judon would be the 8th highest paid player on the Bucs.
While Jonnu, Henry, and Agholar are overpaid.

I cannot imagine Gronk would turn down Brady asking him to come back. I just can’t. Gronk is 32. If he wants to be an entertainer then he can start at 33 and it’s exactly the same.

If Gronk is just done then it’ll be time Brady pulls out the OBJ card. And hopefully when he’s back in October he can be a boost to the offense

So you think anyone who tries to improve their quality of life a POS?

I think you are proving who the real POS is lol
I think he had a contract.

It's interesting that Brady prefers a defensive HC. I really thought he would love having an offensive mind but perhaps given his 20+ years of experience it was too many cooks in the kitchen. I think one thing we can say for Bill is he left Brady and Josh alone and that really worked for both parties.

#Bucs began Phase 1 of their off-season workout program today. Based on the team’s B roll and our reporting, the only QB not attending the start of voluntary conditioning workouts was Tom Brady. Kyle Trask, Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin all attended Monday.

I just looked it up and surprisingly the Pats haven't done too badly drafting WRs since 2014. They just aren't putting enough draft capital.

Pats. 1 high pick bust. 1 mid pick. 4 late picks. Mitchell and Berrios were very good picks. Berrios seemed like a potential heir apparent to Branch, Welker, and Edelman but someone messed up badly when they cut him.

And to compare to two teams that put a lot of value in WRs. Steelers and Bucs have made more WR picks and made them in earlier rounds since 2014.

Steelers. 3 high picks. 4 mid picks. 1 late pick.
Bucs. 1 high pick. 5 mid picks. 3 late picks.

I noted to Ian that the Pats need to take more chances drafting WRs. While Bucs keep drafting WRs even though there isn't an apparent need.
