Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Yeah Brady was treated like a Jag in NE. It's incredible that he was forced to play with a garbage offence in 2019 at age 42. Who did they get to replace Gronk? They had Edelman and who? They wanted him to retire and in a passive aggressive way provided him with inferior talent to prove their theory that Brady was in decline.

Compare that to Tampa who have 3 WR with similar and better talent level than Edelman and has rolled out the red carpet for Brady so that he can keep on and wanting to play.

I think at the end of the day, Brady will remember the difference in treatment and will thus retire a Buc.
Brady's dad said it best when he claimed that it will end badly. It did but only for the Pats, not for Brady and the Bucs

I keep hearing that teams want to keep the QB around 13% of the cap. The Pats offered Brady less than 8%.

I was shocked at how well Brady played last year. I hope he can keep it up in 2022. Same for Gronk.

Larry Bird personally got his coach fired after only a few years as a player in the league but that was ok because he’s Larry Legend and not some “diva”.

Dude wasn’t even the best player of the 80s let alone the greatest to ever play the game.

I think Bill and Brady buried the hatchet after week 4 last year. I'm not sure how he feels about Kraft though. I guess what he does after he retires will depend on that.

Not sure about that. I think Brady wanting to go to Miami is to stick it to Bill twice a year. lol

I don't know. He said after the game his least favorite team to beat was the Patriots. I'm sure the competitor in him would relish the chance at least a little but I think the other part of him would also be content with never playing us again.

I think another WR would be better. They will get injured
Many have them picking Zion Johnson (LG). Gotta protect the GOAT.

Agrees with both of you more so Arch though, Tampa line is very good Mason is better than both Marpet and Cappa so they’ll have enough talent on that line to keep Brady up. WR however could still be a question mark what happens if Godwin isn’t Godwin this coming year. If they not taking CB I think they should go WR
As we saw in the playoffs, OL players get injured too. They're missing a starting LG. They're not missing any WRs (Evans, Godwin, Gage, Perriman, Scotty, Johnson).

True however we don’t know how Godwin will look and nobody is take miller or Johnson seriously

Christian Watson is who I want them to take at 27 he’s amazing at all the stuff there offense loves to do go routes, end around, screens, and he’d s high IQ guy who blocks like evans and Godwin

Who leaves a Super Bowl-ready team to an assistant? Tony Dungy turned the Colts over to Jim Caldwell

The national media loves Brady now for the most part. As soon as you won that Super Bowl in Tampa their entire tune changed. While here in Boston the media and fans grew more bitter toward him. Brady winning in year one absolutely crushed team Bill and the vitirol just keeps spilling over.
The media's hatred for Bill is the driving force behind the Pats hate. He refers to the media as aholes, answers most questions with a collection of grunts and snorts and he's not the least bit interested in providing anything to the media or the fans. What's to like?

When a bunch of 30 year olds got together to name the top NBA players for the last 75 years they put the best player, Bill Russell, behind Larry Bird, who they listed as 5th I believe. That alone tells me that 30 year olds don't know what they're talking about.

Tampa has a system in place and the players to support Brady and compete in his final year(s).

Miami seems like just a bunch of players thrown together. Brady was smart enough to know it was time to leave NE. I'm sure he doesn't want to look like 2019 Brady again, thus he's smart enough to know not to play for Miami.

I can't see why he would want to play NE either. Like any ex, you want to leave them in the rear view mirror.

Brady in the week leading up to the Pats game last season looked the most miserable he’s been during a regular season in I don’t know how long. And after the game he was almost crying in relief. That is not a man who wants to deal with playing the Pats twice a year.

Russel played when the NBA was in its infancy.

The 60s, for the most part was a league of 9 teams for the entire league.

Yes Russel dominated that Era, but because of its make up you can view it similar to the pre-superbowl era.

Russell and Chamberlain are the two greatest players in NBA history. Babe Ruth is the greatest player in MLB history. Gordie Howe is one of the 3 greatest players in NHL history. Jim Brown is the greatest RB in NFL history.

The whole "time before" argument, when based on things other than insufficient data, is just a form of recency bias.

I'm not making an argument that they aren't or couldn't be, but when the game is so vastly different it leaves room for debate.

Otto Graham never gets mentioned in GOAT conversations but his winning record is better than Joe Montana's.

The time of Russell and Wilt is vastly different from the 80s, the 80s are close to today's game then the 60s.

Baseball on the other hand is pretty much the same since 1900

I think they'd be smart to keep Godwin out of preseason altogether. They shouldn't expect anything from him in the 1st half of the season either.

Miller was put in a bad situation last year as they needed a WR2 and WR3, while he was hurt or playing hurt for most of the season. He actually looked pretty good when he had opportunities in the end if the season. I think he's a very useful WR4 or WR5.

Johnson on the other hand was disappointing. He was WR2 or 3 for big parts of the year. He had tons of opportunities and was hot garbage. I'd have him behind Miller in the depth chart.

Godwin is 25 years old coming off an injury that is now routine. He’ll be completely fine for week 1. It’s OBJ who is pushing 30 and got the same injury two months later whose future is up in the air right now.
