Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Same back to Pats in 2019. They had the defense to compete for SB but left the offense barren. They acted like they would compete for SBs forever but I saw the last best chance before a rebuild. So it was frustrating to see them go back to the old formula of bargain bin hunting instead of paying whatever for proven star players.

Seems like the offseason heat about Brady going to 49ers or Dolphins was real, but Licht stared Brady down and he ultimately decided to just keep it going with the Bucs.

To this point, there is absolutely no evidence to support that claim. Like so many other things that are "certain", it's been the media floating a theory, commenting on the theory floated by another media member, and then the baseless assumption that the theory is correct.

Bucs make the signing of defensive back Logan Ryan official. He’ll be talking to reporters in just a few minutes.

Brady/Gronk to Dolphins for a year as a stage to then transfer minority ownership to Brady as part of a group that takes majority ownership from Steven Ross does make logical sense. Ross is buddies with Brady (U of M alums), maybe he would be allowed to stick around as a minority owner. I'm sure they would bring in Bobby Kotick (another U of M alum) who just sold Activision to Microsoft for big $. I'm not sure I'm prepared to see Brady in the AFC East wearing Dolphins colors, I won't lie
There sure will be lots of speculation. Brady can put it to rest by signing an extension. It will be telling if he doesn't.

After this year, most of his major reg season stats would be hard to surpass. If he plays in 2023 too, most would be almost unbreakable.

He already has 7 SBs. The last big frontier is owning part of a FB team. It might be too hard to pass up the temptation if the Dolphins are dangling it in front of him.

Know what’s more impressive than 7 SBs? 8. And then 9.

Denver is for sale, why not there?

8 would be nice. I won't hold my breath for 9.

I don't think any former players have had a significant ownership of an NFL franchise, so that would be breaking new ground.

Bucs gave Will Gholston a one-year, $4.5 million deal. He has a base salary of $1.5 million, and they used four void years to split a $3 million bonus over five years, reducing his 2022 cap number to $2.1 million.

The #Packers re-signed TE Robert Tonyan to a one-year, $3.75 million deal that's worth up to $5.5M with playtime and Pro Bowl incentives. He got a $1M signing bonus and a whopping $1.515M is tied to per-game active roster bonuses. An earn-it deal coming off a torn ACL.

Do I sense a bit of shade being thrown here?

Packers lost MVS. Chiefs got him which is a bummer but it’s a net gain for every NFC team that Rodgers has no weapons now.

Rodgers doesn't need weapons the way that he plays. He throws behind the chains and they have a few routes that DA would run when singled out. With the defense they had the last 2 years it's too bad they couldn't do anything with it but such is life.

Rodgers needs weapons just like how it turned out that Mahomes needs a functional offensive line. They aren’t magic.
