Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Video: New Bucs tight end Kyle Rudolph talks about a whirlwind 48 hours before his first practice with his new team Wednesday morning.

Kyle Rudolph, on following Rob Gronkowski as a Bucs tight end catching passes from Tom Brady: "Those shoes are way too big to fill, and I've got pretty big feet. You're never going to fill those shoes."

It's hard to believe that people used to question Brady's deep ball.

It stems from a combination of the Patriots offensive system and the early years where the deep ball was minimized when people talked about the Patriots. I mean, even the salad days of the Randy Moss years, and now the Tampa years, haven't been enough to shut some people up about it.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles said a year ago they were hit hard by injuries at the WR position and didn’t want to wait until mid season to have to add players because the quality players are on rosters. Why they signed Julio Jones now.

Tom Brady with a deep shot to Breshad Perriman vs No 1 defense for TD. Not much has changed since the Rams game.

Kyle Rudolph said Brady was recruiting him to Tampa even before #Gronk decided to retire. "He was like, 'Look, we don't know what Rob's going to do at this point, but regardless, we need you down here.'"

Lavonte: “Foot’s feelin’ great. … I’m 100 (percent), I’m clear.”

Bruce Arians is out here on the front line, observing this 11-on-11 period. Even appears to have a play sheet in his hand.

Details on Julio Jones' incentives in his Bucs contract: he has 10 $200,000 bonuses in play for up to $2 million in incentives. He gets them if he reaches 50/60/70/80 receptions, and 600/700/800/900 receiving yards, plus $200k if Bucs win NFC title and $200k with Super Bowl win.

Dudes not an all pro anymore but he’s far from washed he’ll feast with teams doubling Godwin and the number 1 CB on Evans

The NCAA still has the bowls, and is eventually going to expand the playoffs, because greed is king.

Expanding playoffs is almost never a good idea, yet every league does it.
There should be more than 4 teams represented in the NCAA and they should use the bowl locations.

I couldn't agree more on expansion.

Alabama basically broke college recruiting for all time which is what really sent absolutely everything in college football off the tracks. Now, Nick Saban doesn’t exist in a vacuum but he came in at exactly the right time and in the right place as the national TV deals for games in the big conferences exploded in value concurrent with the rise of Social Media and player empowerment through that.

Basically college football stopped being a regional affair, it became as nationalized as the NFL. Which isn’t inherently bad but it functionally doesn’t work with how college football has been run for decades. The system broke under it because if it’s all nationalized than the stakes of beating your century old in state rival or winning your not too great of conference and making it to a Bowl no longer holds as much meaning. All that matters is how do you stack up in the race to be crowned the National Champion.

Jensen could be gone for the year

Bucs have second-year pro Robert Hainsey stepping in at center after Jensen left with injury.

Not surprising, but looks like no Chris Godwin today at practice as he works his way back from knee surgery.
