Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Where does this ridiculous notion that Brady has “spent half his life away from family” come from? The dude plays football; he wasn’t deployed to the Middle East lol. He gets six months completely off per year and still probably spends more time with his family in the remaining six months than busy lawyers, doctors, or executives do.
No way. Brady isn't exactly working 9 to 5 with weekends off like other careers have.

If you want to argue they have a long offseason, I won't debate that.

But when it is actually *in* season, professional athletes performing at the highest level are putting in as many work hours as any other profession there is.

I'll have to admit I think taking off any significant amount of time in the middle of training camp, to attend a family vacation, is really lame for a professional athlete. Frankly I'm surprised Brady did it. Not surprised the Bucs let him do it because let's face it what choice did they really have? We know Brady's a part-time GM there and he's got to be running that offense almost entirely at this point. I don't think the time off effects Brady much but it's probably a detriment to some of the new players getting acclimated to the offense. Of course the Bucs have a brutal start to their schedule and if they lose any of those early game the Brady haters will be blaming the family vacation.

Please list those players you think have been impacted to their detriment.

Like I can really answer that. I said probably... players like Gage, Jones and Rudolph... every offensive rookie. Nearly their entire o-line is being reconfigured due to injuries... seems like communication between the quarterback and the o-line is hugely important. Maybe it won't matter at all?... I don't really know. We'll see how their seasons starts. If they lose week 1 then Brady's going to take heat for the time off. They might lose that game anyway, I had them losing weeks 1 and 2 even before the trip to the Bahamas, but now Brady's given his haters ammunition to bash him. If they start 4-0 then it will be totally forgotten.

But think about it, he took significant time off right in the middle of training camp, to attend a family vacation in the Bahamas. It's utterly ridiculous in my opinion but at the very least it's a bad look. If he's pulling stunts like this then he's probably closer to actual retirement than I previously thought.

Either way the Bucs are still winning that division and making a deep playoff run this season... although all the injuries are concerning.

The Bucs top three receivers are out with injuries and not practicing fully and the right tackle is also out for a bit. But yeah Brady not being there really set everything back right.

Other than Rudolph, who was a very late pickup, and Goedeke, who's a rookie taking the place of the injured Stinnie, Brady's had plenty of work with the offensive newbies. As for Gage, he's been out with injury, so Brady being there wouldn't have made any difference. And I'm not sure where you think the QB missing a few practices is going to impact a direct Brady-to-Goedeke situation.

I see nothing problematic here, if what we've been told is true. The absence, supposedly long expected, shouldn't bother anyone. Nobody would be making the panic claims you're making if this was about missed time due to injury.

Then again, this is Patsfans.com, where Brady missing OTAs got blamed for N'Keal Harry being a bust.

I mean if Giselle, who is by earning power the breadwinner of the family and would probably win any divorce proceedings, demands you submit to her powerplay and take a week off training camp or else I don’t think Brady can really say no. Also Giselle probably has connections with ex-Junta people just saying.

Seems like a strange ask in the middle of August.

Or it could be that Brady has never been around just before the kids go to school and they begged him to go on their vacation.

I mean people questioning Brady's commitment have to think of it this way.

Brady is going to play football this year for less money than he would be making working at Fox this year.

I don't question his drive at all

Harry would be prime Jerry Rice if selfish ass Brady went to OTA’s

Bowles was asked if he has any concerns about All-Pro RT Tristan Wirfs being ready for opening night: "Right now, no. I hear he's on schedule, so we'll just take it day by day, but I don't think so."

Who's in more over their head? Bowles or the NE offensive staff?

It is just strange precisely because Brady is so competitive.

Apparently according to Cowherd it wasn't a vacation
