Amendola brings a different skillset than Edelman. You are acting as if Edelman is simply a replaceable player in this offense. He is not.
Of course he's a replaceable player. The only irreplaceable player during the Brady era has been Brady. That's just historical fact.
Not only does is Edelman clutch, he has a chemistry with Brady that cannot be replaced. even by Amendola.
Brady has had that chemistry with every one of his slot WRs. It's essential because of the read requirements.
top of that, Edelman is clearly the leader of the WR corps and the heartbeat of the offense.
The heartbeat of the offense, just like the head of the offense, is Tom Brady. Edelman is just one of the 3 current "go to" receivers, along with Gronk and White. And there's nothing wrong with that.
stand by my statement of Edelman's importance to the team's chances of winning a super bowl. You replace Cooks last year (even if he played the whole game) with Edelman and you have a better team in the super bowl. The Pats could barely move the ball at all in the 1st half, and the Eagles dominated TOP.
You keep making assertions that are nothing more than unfounded opinions, and those opinions generally run counter to obvious truths. And the Patriots drives in the first half were
#Quarter Time LOS P - Pass, R - Rush, Y - Penalty">Plays Length Yds Result
1 1 07:55 NWE 25 9 3:38 67 Field Goal
2 1 02:34 NWE 18 8 3:21 74 Missed FG

6 2 00:34 NWE 25 5 0:34 48 End of Half
Total yardage: 355
so claiming that the Patriots could barely move the ball is ludicrous.
