The pitcher shouldn't have been tossed. It doesn't matter what the umps discussed. The ump was wrong.

Did you read what I posted?? I agree that it was wrong. However, when MLB brass discusses the situation with the umpires as to what their expectations were, they were ****ed and locked be it a Sox pitcher or Orioles pitcher.

It could have been Cy Young reincarnated on the mound and they would have sent him to the showers. Even for a 76 mph curveball that in any other game would have been not even glanced at.
