Total Bills move to eliminate the biggest geographical advantage of their home field.

i do wonder when the league will start insisting all teams play in a dome / retractable roof stadium...

Probably about the same time the league morphs into the NFFL (National Flag Football League) - about 5 to 10 years.

Isn’t it going to be a domed stadium or is it a retractable roof?
It’s going to be open air but will have a canopy that will cover 65% percent of the seats.

Vikings haven’t made it back to a Super Bowl since they moved indoors. Aren’t the Browns doing it also?

While I whole heartedly agree that it detracts more from the home team than the opposing team

We live in the cuddling age for big personas. I bet all Bills player HATE having to play in a stadium like theirs, with wind and cold and gelid temperatures, while Los Angeles is in the same league, and winning SBs

What can I say? Syndrome of our times

I bet the players had absolutely no say in this. It was probably some random stats nerd dipshit in the FO.

It's going to be very cold. They can't avoid that.

The smart thing was really to build a dome, but it was way too expensive for the region.

They also needed to build it downtown but they blew that too.

Buffalo would have a greater advantage in terms of being competitive if it could actually draw more paying fans in December, then they could put more of that money toward retaining star players. That would be a bigger help than the cold.

I bet you on that. Players have more saying power than ever nowadays, I bet even Allen hates wind games and pushed for it in down low.

Ok, while fan support is great and has a say in home games absolutely, i have to disagree with your last sentence

Americans sports reeeeeaaaaalllllly don't have the kind of "strenght" that soccer fan cause in home games, or even in some other sports in South America / Europe. Not to be controversial, but I've been to more than one Football game and watched plenty. It's really not the same

However cold weather absolutely puts a lot of pressure in hot-temperate teams though. To me it's shame that Football is going towards a more "controlled" field with domes and such, takes a bit from the sport, but hey

I'd rather see games with less comercials and more replays, if Im going to start complaining

Also, I do think having "taxes" being a point of contract discussions nowadays is kinda sucky, BUT NO POLITICS

Has nothing to do with fans. It has everything to do with better players. They bleed revenue because of December games.

Interesting, honestly first I'm hearing about this. Not doubting, but do you have news regarding "financial struggles" for them, in any case? Or is it so well-know and I'm not in loop?

They have 60k season ticket holders and that's good, but the tickets have been pretty cheap. You can get seasons for hundreds of dollars.

But in December, there is no demand. In seasons when they went 8-8, the stadium was empty in December, not because of the middling record, but because it was super cold out.

In fact, a lot of Bills fan used to travel to Toronto from Buffalo to watch them play in a Dome in the second to last home game.

People really do like being warm.

This goes for Patriots fans too. It's harder to get a good seat in September than it is for the AFC Championship game.

I used to fly in regularly for AFCCGs in the 2000s and 2010s. I used to get first level seats, even goalline, for $150.

This is because Patriots fans hate the cold too.

I mean, yeah. Cant blame anyone for not enduring freezing temperatures for 3 or more hours

my solution?

Just add a bunch of these heating lamps around seats in cold stadiums. Sure, insurance will go through the roof and there is like a maximum of 3 games all together before someone gets a booboo or straight up burns the stadium

But comfort-wise it would be amazing

Good. I can't stand whether ruining good matchups.

This is what they're doing in Buffalo in the new stadium.

Looks like Bills fans attend a lot of WNBA games these days.

Buffalo isn't Green Bay or Minneapolis. It's not that cold up there. Lots of lake effect snow though and the new stadium will probably still have its share of snow games like Highmark stadium does. Buffalo's southtown suburbs like Orchard Park get hit the hardest with that snow and that's where both stadiums are located... they should have put it downtown or in the northern suburbs like Tonawanda or Amherst. Niagara Falls would have been fun. Lol
