NFL Rumors: Patriots could see 'Mass Exodus' of Coaches, Executives, this offseason

Rob Ryan would be more likely than Rex, due to his work with Belichick in the past. Rob has had some awful failures since then, though.

I think the news that Greg Schiano is leaving OSU to pursue NFL jobs can clue us into BB's plan, should Flores leave.

Greg Schiano leaves Ohio State, “pursues options in the NFL”
The plot thickens....

Flores impressed the Miami brass in his interview, and according to the Herald, is “near, if not at the top” of their list of potential replacements. They are expected to chat with special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi about the job this week before bringing any candidates back for a second interview, per the Herald.

Brian Flores Reportedly A Front-Runner For Miami Dolphins Job

No. He really hasn't.

I mean, if you're one of those people who only counts the players who become instant starters as rookies as "successes", and doesn't consider the entire context of player acquisitions and the roster-building process, then yeah, he sucks.

Are you another one of those?

2014:
1. Easley - Miss/Gone
2. JAG - Hit/Gone
3. Stork - Gone
4. White - Hit/On team
5. Fleming - Gone
6. Halapio - Gone (didn't make team)
7. Moore - Gone
8. Thomas - Gone (didn't make team)
9. Gallon - Gone (didn't make team)

2015:
1. Brown - JAG/On team
2. Richards - Miss/Gone
3. Grissom - STer/On team
4. Flowers - Hit/On team
5. Jackson - Gone
6. Mason - Hit/On team
7. Cardona - Hit/On team
8. Wells - Gone
9. Derby - Gone
10. Roberts - Gone
11. ****son - Gone

2016:
1. Jones - Miss/Gone
2. Thuney - Hit/On team
3. Brissett - Gone
4. Valentine - Gone
5. Mitchell - Hit/Gone
6. Grugier-Hill - Gone
7. Roberts - On team
8. Karras - On team
9. Lucien - On team/Practice squad

2017 (TRENDING):
1. Rivers - Miss/On team
2. Garcia - Gone
3. Wise - Hit/On team
4. McDermott - Gone

Leaving out 2018 because it's still too early to judge that class, the Patriots totaled 33 picks from 2014-2017. Of those 33 picks, 12 (36%) are still on the team. Of the 12 still on the team, 3 are the only guys that you could consider impact players. Out of 33 picks. That is not good drafting. On the plus side, however, they have had some success with UDFAs.

So, unless "mass exodus" means that they're all leaving to head over to church on Sundays, this thread can probably be shut down at this point.

WR needs to get younger, D line, LB and TE..... Like every year, there are positions to upgrade. We're not the dumpster fire some pretend we are......

You grade on a curve in sports.

Josh McDaniels Staying With Patriots: ‘Book Is Closed’ On Head-Coaching Interviews

Dolphins will interview Darren Rizzi for head coach position on Friday

The coaching exodus appears to be overblown. Flores is still in the mix in Miami, but there are more experienced people out there with at least Coordinator-level experience.

The player turnover will probably be significant from a name standpoint, but not in numbers. There's a good young nucleus at every position group except for QB and the receiving corps.

The Pats have a load of picks in the 2019 draft one #1, two #2s, two #3s, one #4, one #5, one #6 and 2 #7s. They are also in line to get four compensatory picks.

Belichick will have lots to work with in trades or upgrades for a guy or two he really likes. If Wynn, Bentley, Sam and Dawson can pan out in their sophomore years, it will be like having a huge draft haul. D-Line, QB and Receiver are the top three needs. It would be nice if they could bring in an experienced pass catching TE

Good to know that our staff will be pretty much intact even if we lose Flores. We can get another DC...either in-house or a guy like Schiano. Gregg Williams is out there too....but dunno if he is a system fit.

Much rather have Williams than Schiano.

Williams is just about as far from BB as it gets, in terms of defensive philosophy.
Agree but you have to innovate.
Its not likely but you never know.
Chances are their is some assistant at a division 3 school getting Gatorade and coffee for everyone.
Writes up plays that get laughed at that is on BBs short list.
Everyone will be like who then we lead the league in points against.
Elandon Roberts becomes defensive MVP we all laugh about this post.

But what about the Character Coach???

Man not sure how we’re gonna replace our Character Coach.

(Although it was funny, shortly after I posted this there was a big article about him, he actually seems integral to the team culture, so what do I know?)

(Although he wasn't much help with Josh Gordon in the end).

Quick, someone tell Belichick he forgot to be innovative this whole time.
Fair what I meant to say was BB is smart enough to know that sometimes your strategy has to he able to bend and sure it's more than likely personal.
But is there a poster here who wouldn't trade defenses with the Browns straight up?

If there's no movement with the coordinators (and it's starting to look that way), then I wonder if any of the position coaches have expiring contracts and could make a lateral move with better perceived upward potential. Guys like Schuplinski, O'Shea, Daly, and Boyer could all be looking for added responsibility that they're not going to get while everybody above them stays in place.

Just hopefully it would work out better for them than for Pepper Johnson, who left the Patriots to work three years as a position coach, spend 2017 and 2018 out of football, and now coach in the AAF.

Great interview with Pepper if people didn't see it earlier this season:

Gregg Williams coached the 31st ranked scoring defense a whole one year ago.
